Older Issues

The standard Log format will be 8 pages published on or near the first of the month with the exception of the combined issues.  The schedule for 2011 is: January, February/March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October and November/December. Articles for the February/March Log should be submitted by February 4 and for the November/December Log by November 4.  Important notices generally will be emailed to ensure timely dissemination. 

Articles, notices, and other items of interest to share with our membership are welcome.  They should be submitted by the 20th of the month, except in the case of the combined issues.  Word limits of 500 words will be imposed on all articles except in extraordinary circumstances.  Articles should be submitted in Word format.  Any related photos should be separately provided in .jpg format.  There will be a limit of one photo per article except in extraordinary circumstances.  The quality of the photos themselves may justify inclusion as if they were an article.  The color format will be retained for the immediate future.  There will be limited use of logos except where absolutely necessary and space is available.  If articles/photos do not conform to spacing policies, they will be excluded unless space is otherwise available.  In addition, editorial judgment will be imposed in eliminating articles in the event of spacing issues or other considerations. 

Tradewinds Ads - Club members may post items for sale, rent, wanted, crew requests, etc., for free in the Tradewinds section.  Copy should be limited to between 35 and 40 words (300 characters with spaces).  Items normally run for 3 issues and then are replaced unless renewed.  

Ads - Advertising space is available to members and the general public.  Rates are as follows:
 

Ad copy should be submitted no later than the 15th of the month. Ads can be changed monthly but final proofs are due by 24th of each month. These can be submitted camera ready, as a Word or Publisher Document, PDF file, or text and pictures.  Email ad material to Nica Waters (nicawaters@gmail.com), Editor. Where possible graphic material should be submitted in vector format in Illustrator, Coreldraw (11 or less), or Photoshop file format. Quark and Pagemaker are not supported. Bitmapped files should be scaled to the size at which they will be printed at 300 dpi or greater for best resolution. JPEG, TIFF or EPS files are preferred. Avoid BMP and GIF formats if possible. The Log Streamer can assist with layout as required.  All advertisers will be placed on the mailing list to receive The Log.   Advertising fees will be billed.  Please note that The Log is printed on uncoated paper at a screen resolution of about 90 dpi in single color. As space is limited, the Editor regrets that we may be unable to accept an ad or may be required to place the prospective advertiser on a waiting list. If space permits, the Editor will print ads on a space-available basis. Contact the Editor if that is of interest and you can supply an ad to be held in reserve for such an occasion.
