DESCRIPTION |
This series will consist of multiple races on four days.
Planned format for PHRF SPIN: on Sunday, September 9 and Sunday, September 30, up to two round-the-buoys races; on Saturday, September 15 the Wolf Trap long distance race; on Saturday, October 13, one medium distance race.
Planned format for MORC will be the same as for PHRF SPIN except that two or more round-the-buoys races will be substituted for the medium distance race on Saturday, October 13. |

PROGRAM |
Awards will be presented for each race completed and refreshments will be provided by FBYC after each day’s races. Overall awards for the series will be presented at the FBYC year-end awards ceremony. |
RACE DAY 2 – September 15, 2001 – Wolf Trap

Warning Signal |
The warning signal for the Wolf Trap race will be at 1100. |

STARTING
AREA |
Between Piankatank R. G "5" (FBYC "A") and the Piankatank R. Lt. R "6" Fl R 6s (FBYC "B).
The starting line will be between a special buoy "X" and the orange or yellow flag on the Committee Boat. |

COURSE |
Approximate Distance: 24.6 NM
The first mark of the course will be either (1) special buoy "Y" located to windward or on the approximate magnetic course from the Committee Boat as may be displayed by numeral pennants or digits shown on the Committee Boat or (2) a government mark listed in Appendix A. The Committee Boat will display either a "Y" or other letter to designate the government mark. After rounding the special buoy "Y" or the government mark, yachts shall sail the remaining marks of the course set forth below: |

FINISHING LINE |
Between Piankatank R. Lt. "6" Fl R 6s (FBYC "B") and the orange or yellow flag on the Committee Boat stationed north of FBYC "B". If the Committee Boat is not on station at the finish, leave FBYC "B" to port, and take your own time when you are within 25 yards of FBYC "B" and it bears 180°
magnetic from the helmsman’s position. This information should be passed along to the Race Committee Chairman as soon as possible after returning to the dock. |

TIME LIMIT |
2000 hours for all classes; boats finishing after 2400 hours on Saturday, September 15, 2001 will be scored DNF. |
ALL OTHER RACES – September 9, 30, and October 13

Warning Signal |
The warning signal for the first race each day will be at 1100. |
|
Subsequent races |
The Race Committee will signal its intention to run additional races by displaying Code Flag "R" at the finish line. If Code Flag "R" is flying at the finish, remain in the vicinity of the Committee Boat and watch for the warning signal for the next race shortly after the last boat finishes the current race. The starting sequence will be the same as for the first race. |

COURSES |
These course instructions apply to all races. It will be the responsibility of the skipper to locate the Committee Boat. It could be anywhere from Piankatank R. G "5" (FBYC "A"), to Piankatank R. Lt. R "2" Fl R 4s (FBYC "F") or beyond.
If conditions warrant, the Race Committee will fly Code Flags "F" over "B" when leaving the dock on Jackson Creek and hail on Channel 72 indicating its intention to race in Fishing Bay and the adjacent Piankatank River.
The starting and finishing lines will be between the orange or yellow flag on the Committee Boat and either a government mark listed in Appendix A, special buoy "X", or a drop-mark pursuant to Appendix C. |

TIME LIMITS |
Round-the-Buoys Races – If one boat in a class finishes within two (2) hours after the start for that class, then the race will be valid for all boats in that class.
Medium Distance Race – If one boat in a class finishes by 1600 hours, then the race will be valid for all boats in that class. |

SCORING |
The Fall Series winner in each class (i.e., PHRF SPIN, MORC, or PHRF NON-SPIN) will be the boat having the lowest total point score for the series. A boat may qualify for winning regardless of the number of races she has started. If seven or more races are completed for a class, each boat in that class will be allowed to discard their worst race. |
