Frostbite #1

DESCRIPTION

This event will consist of multiple races on three race days. The planned format for all classes is for round-the-buoys races to be held on Fishing Bay and the adjacent Piankatank River.

PROGRAM

Awards will be presented for each race completed and refreshments will be provided by FBYC after each day’s races.

Warning Signal

The warning signal for the first race each day will be at 1100 hours.

Subsequent races

The Race Committee will signal its intention to run additional races by displaying Code Flag "R" at the finish line. If Code Flag "R" is flying at the finish, remain in the vicinity of the Committee Boat and watch for the warning signal for the next race shortly after the last boat finishes the current race. The starting sequence will be the same as for the first race.

COURSES

These course instructions apply to all races. It will be the responsibility of the skipper to locate the Committee Boat. It is intended that these races will be held in Fishing Bay. The Race Committee will fly Code Flags "F" over "B" leaving the dock and hail on Channel 72 indicating its intention to race in Fishing Bay and the adjacent Piankatank River.

If the Race Committee does not fly Code Flags "F" over "B", the Committee boat could be located anywhere from Piankatank R. G "5" (FBYC "A"), to Piankatank R. Lt. R "2" Fl R 4s (FBYC "F") or beyond.

The starting and finishing lines will be between the orange or yellow flag on the Committee Boat and either a government mark listed in Appendix A, special buoy "X", or a drop-mark pursuant to Appendix C.

TIME LIMITS

If one boat in a class finishes within two (2) hours after the start for that class, then the race will be valid for all boats in that class.

SCORING

For each day of the series, the winner in each class will be the boat having the lowest total point score for all races conducted for that class. A boat may qualify for winning regardless of the number of races she has started. There will be no throw-outs. Each day will be scored as a separate series; there will be no overall awards for all three days. The results of these races will not be used to determine winners of FBYC perpetual trophies.

CBYRA SANCTION

These events are not CBYRA sanctioned.
