  • The Volvo Leukemia Cup Regatta is a series of sailing events taking place at yacht clubs throughout the United States that raise money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Sailors participating in Volvo Leukemia Cup Regatta events raise money through pledges and individual donations.

  • Sailors also compete for prizes and awards in Volvo Leukemia Cup Regatta races held at participating yacht clubs.

  • The national Volvo Leukemia Cup Regatta series was founded by America's Cup winner Gary Jobson in 1994, following the success of the initial Leukemia Cup regatta in Annapolis, Maryland, in 1993.

  • In 2001, 42 Volvo Leukemia Cup Regatta events are scheduled to take place at yacht clubs throughout the United States. In 2000, 36 events took place.

  • In 2000, sailors participating in Volvo Leukemia Cup Regatta events raised almost $3 million for the fight against leukemia, lymphoma and other blood-related cancers.

  • More than 15,000 people took part in Volvo Leukemia Cup events in 2000.
