2003 Cruising Division Events
GENERAL INFORMATION We have put together for you a very full season of cruising. No one should end the year saying there were not enough cruises to fulfill their desires. For local cruising we have two in the spring, the cruise regatta, a cruise with kids and one in the fall. For a little further cruising there is the Memorial weekend to Rosegill and a trip to Onancock. For the more adventurous cruisers there is a two week cruise to the northern half of the Bay and a one week cruise to Mobjack Bay. Both of these cruises have reasonable daily distances and a blend of anchoring, staying at marinas, eating on board or eating out. Please notify the cruise event chairman as early in the season as possible of your intention to participate, particularly for cruises that require slip or food reservations. It is always easier to cancel than to join in at the last moment. We will use e-mail for notification of the cruises and will post announcements on the Fishing Bay Website concerning upcoming cruises. If you do not use e-mail or you have an e-mail address but have not been receiving cruise information on it in the past, please notify John Koedel at (804) 776-6168 or koedel@oonl.com and arrangements will be made so you do get the cruise information. Prior to the two week and one week cruises each participant will be send a packet with the information for the cruise. Any changes to the details in this book regarding a particular event will be sent out as listed above. Go over the cruise schedule now and mark your calendars for all events even if you do not know yet if you can participate. For those events that you intend to participate in please notify the event chairman right away. The participation fee for each cruise will be set as the cruise approaches and notices will be sent out. We look forward to seeing as many of you on the water as possible. DAY OF THE CRUISE INSTRUCTIONS Announcements pertaining to the cruise events, if necessary, will be made on VHF channel 9 generally at 0900 hours. Standard radio procedure will be for the chairman to announce they are calling FBYC cruise participants and then go to a working channel. During the cruise the participants are requested to monitor VHF channel 9. If you wish to get a group together for a spontaneous cruise, check the dock for other interested cruisers and leave a note on the bulletin board in Fannie's House as to your destination so others can join in as well. |
