Welcome LetterThis letter plus the 2 maps ( Delta Vicinity Map - pdf and the FBYC layout - pdf ) will be in your packet you will receive at checkin.Welcome to Fishing Bay Yacht Club (FBYC)!Thank you for attending the 2004 Atlantic Coast Championship at Fishing Bay.The attached Map of the Deltaville Vicinity and Site Plan should help orient you. If you cannot find something, ask any of the volunteers wearing the yellow tee shirts or polo shirts with the event logo. We are here at the good graces of our club members and local neighbors, whose interests we are committed to promote. Please cooperate with our volunteers, particularly on matters that may affect our neighbors, such as parking and crossing Fishing Bay Road. Overview:FBYC is located in a residential area approached by a narrow private right of way with a 25 mph speed limit and multiple speed bumps. This road must be kept clear at all times to allow access both to neighboring homes and for emergency vehicles. We are trying to avoid sending very many power boat trailers down that road or to FBYC property. To manage traffic when it reaches that point, we may block the road and direct vehicles to a holding area before the turn onto the waterfront on Fishing Bay Road. Volunteers and local law enforcement officers will be controlling traffic flow to avoid blocking Fishing Bay Road, which is actually a private right of way to many homes on Stove Point, only some of whom are FBYC members. After release from the holding area, vehicles will travel about 0.65 mile to FBYC and be directed through our north (left) parking lot on Jackson Creek, around a circle, to the unloading area on the Bay side near the FBYC main clubhouse. Cars, without their boats and trailers, will then park in our parking areas, in front of the clubhouses (Creek Side and Bay Side), in an adjacent leased field (Richardson Field) or to an overflow area west of the club and back down Fishing Bay Road (Ruark Field). Optis will be stored for the duration of the regatta in the rigging field on land adjacent to the club. Each of these areas is clearly identified on the maps that you will find in your registration package. Some Key Items:Larger powerboats will never go down Fishing Bay Road. Their launching will be at Harbor House and related trailer parking will be at the Maritime Museum field next door to Harbor House. Volunteers will guide you, supervise your launch, and direct you to FBYC by water. If you are alone, a shuttle will be provided to get you back to your car.Only the smallest power boats (e.g inflatables and very small whalers that cannot go around Stove Point) will be permitted to launch at FBYC. Trailers for these boats must be returned to the Ruark Field. Visitor cars and trucks (but no trailers) may park in the FBYC lots on the Bay Side and Creek Side of the FBYC campus and in the Richardson Field just beyond FBYC on the left. Volunteers (but no visitors) will park in fields further on the right. All these fields belong to neighbors and our access has been granted on these conditions, so we appreciate your cooperation. No vehicle should ever park, even for a moment, on the shoulder of Fishing Bay Road. Small power boats will moor or beach on the Club and adjoining Jacob Beach on the Bay side, weather permitting. Large power boats will moor or beach on the creek side at the cruising piers and bulkheads or on the Richardson Beach (please stay on the beach only and do not enter the Richardson property). Opti Team trailers may be parked just beyond the Opti rigging field, close together after unloading on the edge of the rigging field. No Opti trailers will be allowed in the rigging field. Choose your own Opti square in the rigging field, note the number (only every fifth space is numbered) and always go back there. Part of the Safety process will be to annotate your Safety Card with your rigging square number, your sail number and your safety board number. If you are missing, we'll know who you are and where to look for you.
Opti Launching and Hauling:Opti Launching for the Championship Fleet will be organized by Division Colors (not Fleet Colors).Red and Blue Divisions will launch using the plywood ramp on the rigging field. The ramp is a little steep, so you will need adult assistance. Green and Yellow Divisions will launch on the concrete ramp. Please be prepared to sail away promptly and have an adult return your dolly to your rigging square. Opti Launching and Hauling for the Green Fleet will be on the wooden ramp in front of the main clubhouse. Safety and other:Sailors may pick up their safety cards at the safety board next to the Junior Shed up to 1/2 hour prior to launch time. All departing Optis must pass through a Safety Gate at the outboard end of the Bayside FBYC pier and present their safety cards to obtain passage. (Championship Fleet will pass on the left facing the Bay. Green Fleet will pass on the right.)Cards must be returned to the safety board immediately after hauling. Volunteers will be available at hauling points to collect cards and return them to the Board, but it is the sailors responsibility to be sure his card has been returned to the board. Opti washdown will be provided by the water truck near the Junior Shed. Washdown time will be limited. The Regatta Committee |
