WHEN:

Sunday, June 24, through Wednesday, June 27, 2007. The final schedule has been posted in the Notice of Race, available above. Generally, the schedule is:

Sun. 6/24

  • Registration and Measurement
  • Women’s and Juniors’ Championships
Mon.-Wed. 6/25-27
  • Championship and Challenger Series

The abbreviated schedule is designed to accommodate the Flying Scot 50th Anniversary Celebration hosted by Flying Scot, Inc. at Deep Creek Lake in Maryland. The process for election of Championship and Challenger Divisions is now published above in the Notice of Race.

WHERE:

Fishing Bay is in Deltaville, Virginia, 75 miles east of Richmond, Virginia, at the Piankatank River mouth, just south of the Rappahannock River and Stingray Point on the Chesapeake Bay. FBYC offers a superb sailing conditions in a beautiful setting with modern, new facilities. The racing area(s) will be in the Fishing Bay area.

REGISTRATION:

Active on-line registration is available at On-line Registration. Registrants are urged to use this method which insures accurate, timely recordation of data and payments, facilitates purchases, tracking and delivery of event apparel, and significantly reduces administrative effort. For those who do not wish to register on-line, registration is also offered by mail, and on-site (at an increased Late Registration Fee). The Registration Form for mail and on-site registration is available at Registration Form - PDF and on www.fssa.com.

ACCOMODATIONS:

Deltaville, Virginia, is a small village, with limited commercial accommodations. Hotel accommodations are available in surrounding towns, such as Irvington, Kilmarnock, and Gloucester. We have made group arrangements for commercial accommodations at numerous local hotels and camping and RV parks and details are available on the Special Accommodations page. Click on Special Accomodations in the left margin for details. We also expect some members of FBYC to offer accommodations in their homes. In addition, a nearby private secondary school is providing a few rooms with cafeteria access at modest prices.

Limited tent camping (but no campers or RVs) will be allowed on site but arrangements must be made in advance through the Housing Chair.

MEALS:

FBYC will provide a Continental Breakfast for competitors on each racing day. There will be a Reception Sunday evening, June 24. Plans for other evening meals have now been finalized. FBYC will provide evening meals for regatta participants on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights and for the Board of Governors on Tuesday night.

The Sunday Reception is at FBYC. The Monday dinner is at Christ Church School on Route 33 near the Urbanna turnoff at Cook's Corner. The Tuesday night Picnic Supper is at FBYC and the BOG Dinner is at Ekhard's Restaurant in Topping. The Wednesday night Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner is at Beth Page Resort, just north of Urbanna. [Picture shown at the left.] The Registration Form provides provide details and prices.

LAUNCHING, MOORING and STORAGE:

FBYC has a "bay side" and a "creek side" to its campus, which is on a narrow isthmus. There is a concrete ramp on the bay side for trailer launched boats. FBYC also has a hoist on the creek side. An additional hoist facility may be arranged at a nearby marina and an additional trailer launching facility has been arranged at a local community association. The Registration Form has a space for each participant to select dry sailing or wet sailing and the preferred method of launching, subject to availability. Car parking will be in FBYC lots and nearby fields. The bay side is sheltered from prevailing winds, but can get rough in a southerly wind, so overnight mooring there is not recommended. The creek side and marina basin are sheltered and virtually never get rough. See the Chart of Racing Area and aerial photo of the neighborhood for an overview of the area.

NOR and SAILING INSTRUCTIONS:

The NOR and Registration Form are now available above on this site and on www.fssa.com. The NOR was published in the January-February 2007 Issue of Scots-n-Water. The Sailing Instructions will be available at the conclusion of registration as stated in the NOR.
