MOONLIGHT REGATTA (DISTANCE SERIES #3)

June 21, 2008

DESCRIPTION

This event will consist of one race Saturday, June 21, 2008 for PHRF A, PHRF B/C,  PHRF NON-SPIN and CRUISING CLASS, if warranted. This race is the third race of the Distance Series.  The full moon will be on June 18, 2008.

PHRF NON-SPIN (and CRUISING CLASS) will be sailed allowing only one (1) headsail downwind.

 

Program

There will be a dinner at the clubhouse at 1700 hours before the race, and refreshments at the clubhouse following the race.

 

Warning Signal

The first warning signal for this race will be at 1930 hours.

 

STARTING AREA

The Committee Boat could be anywhere from Piankatank R. G “5” (FBYC “A”), to Piankatank R. QR 15ν 4M “6” (FBYC “B”) or beyond. The starting line will be between the orange or yellow flag on the Committee Boat and either a government mark listed in Appendix A or special buoy “X”.

 

 

COURSE

The first mark of the course will be either (1) special buoy μYξ located to windward or on the approximate magnetic course from the Committee Boat as may be displayed by numeral pennants or digits shown on the Committee Boat or (2) a government mark listed in Appendix A. The Committee Boat will display either a μYξ or other letter to designate the government mark. After rounding the special buoy μYξ or the government mark, yachts shall sail the remaining marks of the course set forth below unless otherwise specified by the Race Committee

FINISH LINE

Between Piankatank R. Lt. QR 15 4M “6” (FBYC “B”) and the orange or yellow flag on the Committee Boat stationed north of FBYC “B”.  If the Committee Boat is not on station at the finish, leave FBYC “B” to port, and take your own time when you are within 25 yards of FBYC “B” and it bears 180˚ magnetic from the helmsmanνs position, and if possible record the names or sail numbers of the boats finishing immediately ahead and behind you. This information should be passed along to the Race Committee Chairman as soon as possible after returning to the dock.

 

 

TIME LIMIT

If one boat in a class finishes by 0200 hours June 22, then the race will be valid for all boats in that class.  Boats finishing after 0400 hours on Sunday, June 22, 2008 will be scored DNF.

 

 

AWARDS

Awards for this race will be given out at the clubhouse following the race.  Awards for the Long Distance Series will be given at the Annual Awards ceremony.

 

 

CBYRA SANCTION

This race is sanctioned for CBYRA High Point awards except for Cruising Class.
