Southern Cruise-Manteo, NC
June 7-21: SOUTHERN CRUISE - MANTEO, NC. (Revised departure date) June 7th – June 21stWe’re off to the Tarheel State to sail the waters made famous by Blackbeard. In visiting the Outer Banks of North Carolina, we’ll have a great combination of sailing the open waters of the Sounds, motoring the ICW, visiting picturesque towns and anchoring to raft for cocktails and dinners on-board. Plan two weeks of cruising North Carolina waters. We will meet at Norfolk Yacht Club on Saturday, June 7th for a dock cocktail party and you can choose to have dinner either in the Yacht Club or onboard. Sunday, June 8th, we motor south on the ICW to Coinjock, N.C. for the lowest priced fuel around and their legendary food. Weather permitting, we then head south to Manteo and will plan a side trip to the Wright Memorial Park; to Hatteras, home of the large sport fishing fleet; and to Ocracoke, famous for one of the best beaches on the east coast. On the return trip, we’ll sail west on the Pamlico Sound to Belhaven and the River Forest Marina and restaurant. Next, we go through the Alligator Canal and will plan to raft on the north Alligator River with cocktails and dinner on-board. Then, we head north back through Coinjock to the Upper ICW, on to Hampton Yacht Club and then back up the Bay to FBYC. This cruise will require motoring the ICW (few places to sail on the ICW). We plan to anchor and raft for cocktails many nights. A dinghy will be needed. Participating boats will be limited to a seven foot draft and mast height of 65’ for fixed bridges. Please contact us ASAP if you plan to make this cruise or if you have any questions. Charlie and Stella Jones, H (336)273-9158, O (336)272-0197 |
