Opti and Laser Race Teams

Opti and Laser Race Teams are both intensive instructional racing programs requiring a significant investment of time and resources by both the participants and their families. The Opti Race Team has capacity for 10 sailors, and the Laser Race Team has capacity for 8 sailors.  The program consists of seven weeks of instruction following Junior Week (June 27 through mid-August) from world-class professional coaches, Damian Saponara and Luis "Dingo" Canuto. Participants sail Optis, Lasers or Laser Radials.

The cost for the Race Teams (for members who register and pay by the deadline) is $1,110 for members, which includes Junior Week ($1,160 commencing April 21).  Instruction is more effective when the instructor can add new material each week, therefore instruction and training for this program is cumulative, and participants who miss sessions will have to make arrangements to catch up outside of practice. Junior sailors who are not registered for Opti Race Team or Laser Race Team before Junior Week may have the opportunity to join the desired team at the conclusion of Junior Week on a space available basis. All registrants must have prior approval of the Junior Division Commander.
