2008 FBYC Junior Program

Our goal for FBYC’s 2008 Junior Program is to bring summer sailing to a higher level of participation and enjoyment for all of our juniors by promoting improved sailing skills, safety, sportsmanship and camaraderie. The program is designed to address the needs of all our children from their first class in Opti-Kids or beginning Optimist through competitive sailing in Optimist, 420s and Lasers at regional and national events. Although Junior Week continues to be a core event for the program early in the summer, it is only one part of a larger program designed to get kids on the water and sailing the entire summer.

We will offer a diverse wide range of programs for Juniors in the Summer of 2008.  Typically, we would hope that a Junior will enroll in

  • Opti Kids  - Introduction to sailing for the youngest beginners  More about Opti Kids

    • and/or

  • Junior Week -  Various levels of instruction designed to teach sailing to all juniors ages 7-17 More about Junior Week

and for the balance of the summer, one of the following options:
  • Race Development Team - with race training and coaching for beginning racers - mostly Optimists Green Fleeters - together with travel to local Regattas More about Race Development Team
  • Race Team Extended - Race Team Extended with intensive coaching, practice sessions, race training and travel to local, regional and National Regattas More about Race Team Extended
  • Learn to Sail for non-racing juniors - with sail training for the balance of the summer at FBYC More about The Learn to Sail Program
In addition, we also offer:
  • Clinics on June 20th and 30th, and race development team during the balance of the summer at FBYC
  • Lessons by appointment
