On Line Registration Help
This page is intended to guide you through the registration process and answer any questions.
In order to complete registration for any event you will need:
Who are you?
If you have already visited our Members Only section, then you already have a user name and password. You can click on Register and if you are not already logged in to our web site, it will prompt you to do so, and then take you to Registration for your event. If you can not remember your user name and password, go to www.fbyc.net/ForgotUser
If you do not have a user name and password, click on 'sign up now' and it will force you to submit the information we need to issue your user name and password. Select 'Activate my member account' and once your application has been approved by Mary Spencer you will receive an email letting you know that you now have access to register for an event.
If you have registered online for a FBYC event, then you already have a FBYC user name and password. When you click 'Register' if you are not already logged in to our website, you will be prompted to do so and then you will be taken to register for your event. If you can not remember your user name and password, go to www.fbyc.net/ForgotUser
If you do not have a user name and password, click on 'sign up now' and you will be asked for the information needed to set up an account. Select 'Register for an upcoming event' and after the form is completed you will be immediately approved for a user name and password, but will only receive permission to Register for events.
- The first page of the entry form contains the information about the person(s)
and boat being registered. At the top is the name of the competitor. It
should be automatically filled out with your information. You can change
your information to that of the Competitor whether it be a child or spouse
- if you wish. Please also fill out your US Sailing and CBYRA number, if
appropriate. Some events will offer a discount for US Sailing Members.
- The middle part of the page will contain space for the usual information
about your boat. You may be required to check a box indicating your boat
conforms to the rules and that you agree to the liability waiver.
- At the bottom of the entry form will be a space requesting the number
of people who will be attending with you as well as a place for comments.
- If there are no purchases, click register to complete your entry. If you
fail to complete all of the required information, the entry form will be
presented again with a notation in RED pointing out the mistakes. Please
fill out the offending fields and resubmit the form. Upon successful completion
of the entry form, you will receive an acknowledgment page and an email
with a confirmation of your entry.
- If there is an entry fee or a list of items for sale - tee-shirts, meal
tickets, etc. - they will be displayed at the bottom of the form. You will
not be allowed to complete the registration without payment for any "required
items" like an entry fee. Entry fees typically increase automatically
if the registration is beyond the date set for Late Registrations.
- When you click the Register Button, it will check the Entry Form data
as above, but rather than confirming the Registration, - you will be taken
to a Payment Page
PLEASE NOTE: We have changed how payment to FBYC works:
We now offer TWO (2) alternative payment processes, both of which are processed by PayPal.
We have moved to a new system to lower the credit card fees we pay and in doing so, we have removed
programming issues that caused problems in the past. We hope you will find it is easier.

EASIEST - "Pay here with your credit card" (PayPal account not required): When you first
see this page, the radio button entitled "Pay here with your credit card" is checked. You may enter
your credit card information in the form at the bottom, and it will be submitted for processing by PayPal.
You will not be taken away from the FBYC web page. If it
is successful, you should see the Entry Confirmed page pretty quickly. Or if your card is rejected
because you enter the data incorrectly, you may see a ZOPE ERROR - reflectingPayPal Server Error: This transaction cannot be processed... 10700 (to 10795).
Each error code means something different with what was entered.
In that case, use the browser BACK arrow to return to the Payment Page and try again
PAYPAL CREDENTIALS REQUIRED - "Pay using your PayPal account":
Alternatively, if you have a PayPal account, you can click the mouse in the lower unchecked Radio Button
entitled "Pay using your PayPal account", the Credit card form will disappear, and
clicking the "Pay now" button will redirect you to PayPal's website,
where you will be required to login with your PayPal username and password. Once successful, you can then
use any PayPal payment processes you may have set up - either bank draft or credit card.
When you have paid, you should see the Entry Confirmed page pretty quickly.
- On the payment page
you will have an opportunity to review your purchases and adjust quantities.
- Once you are satisfied with your purchases, please enter:
- The name on the credit card
- The credit card number - no spaces - no dashes
- The Month and Year of the credit card expiration.
- If you fail to complete all of the required information, or supply incorrect
credit card information, the payment form will be presented again with
notation in RED pointing out the mistakes. Please complete the form and
resubmit. Upon successful completion of the entry form, you will receive
an acknowledgment page and an email with a confirmation of your entry.
Please note that FBYC uses a secure server with https and 128 bit SSL.
In IE click View>Status bar and you will see a lock in the bottom right
corner of the browser indicating that the site is secure.

Your acknowledgment and E-Mail Confirmation
Your email confirmation should arrive within 5 minutes of your completed registration. It will repeat most of the information you submitted, and a copy of the email goes to our sailing events management people notifying them that you have registered.
There will be a link on the email confirmation which will again take you or any of the sailing events people to your confirmation page showing your entry.
If you find that you get through the information about you and your boat, but do not
complete the credit card processing step, it is fine to go through the process again later.
The computer will allow you to re-register, but it will not record duplicate entries made
by you unless the First Name and the Last Name of the Competitor are different.
recent versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer click Tools >
Internet Options... Next click the Security tab and if the 'default level'
button is not grayed out, click on it. Either way, move the slider up and down to set
the level to medium. Next click the Privacy tab. Move the slider to the Medium
or Medium high setting. Click 'OK.' These settings will ensure the page still works while
not over exposing your computer to unnecessary security risks. For more information on
