SERIES NOTICE The event information below, used in conjunction with the Offshore General Notice of Race, comprises the complete NOTICE OF RACE for the event.

DESCRIPTION This series will consist of the following races for PHRF SPINNAKER A, B and C, NON-SPIN, Limited Crew (sailboats holding valid PHRF of the Chesapeake PHRF certificates), and CRUISING sailboats (having handicap ratings issued by FBYC).

PHRF NON-SPIN will be sailed allowing only one (1) headsail downwind.  The format for all classes is in the Event Notice for each race.

(1) Limited Crew for this series is determined as the yacht's LOA dimension divided by six.  For example:  a C&C 35/3 is 34'8" LOA / 6 = 5.  The class is required to notify the RC of their intent to participate in this class at their on-water check-in.

The race committee will determine whether to use PHRF of the Chesapeake Bay CR Handicaps for each race of the distance series.  If so determined, will notify the fleet by radio prior to the start of each event. 

SAFETY Sailboats shall comply with US Sailing  "Safety Equipment Requirements" (SER) Nearshore category with additional requirements of

In the event of a conflict between the SER and applicable class rules, the class rules shall govern.

PROGRAM, WARNING, STARTING AREA, COURSES, TIME LIMITS See the Event Notice for each race.

SCORING Daily awards are awarded based on the “Low-Point Scoring System.” Individual race awards will be presented following each race. The Long Distance Series winner in each class or subclass will be the qualified boat having the highest score for the series based on the “High-Point Percentage Scoring System.” Awards for the Long Distance Series will be given at the Closing Day Event, November 7, 2020.

CBYRA SANCTION All races in this series are sanctioned for CBYRA High Point Awards.

 

CUT CHANNEL RACE (LONG DISTANCE SERIES RACE #1)

NOTICE The event information below, used in conjunction with the Series NoticeOffshore General Notice of Race, comprises the complete NOTICE OF RACE for the event.

DESCRIPTION This event will consist of one race for PHRF SPINNAKER A, B, C, NON-SPIN, & Limited Crew sailboats (holding valid PHRF of the Chesapeake Category PHRF  certificates), and FBYC CRUISING (sailboats having handicap ratings issued by FBYC).  PHRF NON-SPIN will be sailed allowing only one (1) headsail downwind. This race is the first race of the Long Distance Series.

PROGRAM There will be a dinner and the daily awards in the clubhouse following this race. Social and awards program may be altered due to covid.

WARNING The warning signal for the start will be at 1100 hours.

STARTING AREA In the vicinity of FBYC “B”.

COURSE The first mark of the course may be a (1) special buoy “Y” located to windward or on the approximate magnetic course from the Committee Boat as may be displayed by numbers shown on the Committee Boat or (2) a government mark listed in Appendix A. If an additional first mark is used, the Committee Boat will display either a “Y” or other letter to designate the government mark. After rounding the first mark of the course, yachts shall sail the remaining marks of the appropriate course as set forth below unless otherwise specified by the Race Committee.

If no additional first mark is specified, yachts shall sail the marks of the appropriate course as set forth below.

If the PRO chooses Course A as the course to be sailed, then the choice of sailing Course A, Option 1 or Course A, Option 2 is the skipper's choice, and not a choice made by the PRO.

FINISH LINE Between FBYC “B” and the orange or yellow flag on the Committee Boat stationed near FBYC “B”. If the Committee Boat is not on station at the finish, leave FBYC “B” to port, and take your own time when you are within 25 yards of FBYC “B” and it bears 180º magnetic from the helmsman’s position. This information should be passed along to the Race Committee Chairman as soon as possible after returning to the dock.

TIME LIMITS If one boat in a class or subclass finishes within fourteen (14) hours of the actual start time of the race for that class or subclass, then the race will be valid for all boats in that class or subclass. The time limit for the remaining boats in a class or subclass shall be two (2) hours after the first boat in their class or subclass finishes a valid race.

PROTEST TIME Protests must be filed no later than two hours after the last boat to finish within its time limit.

SCORING The score for this race day will be combined as a part of the Long Distance Series.

CBYRA SANCTION This race is sanctioned for CBYRA High Point awards.
