Wait...the "what race" you say??? Well its true, we've gone Mexican and its no longer just a douse!

The annual Cut Channel race is this weekend followed by a full fledged Mexican feast at the main clubhouse. This is the 2nd distance race in the long distance series and we need you to participate.

2013 Windmill Class National Championships Results

The 2013 Windmill Class NAs were sailed July 18 to the 21st in Deltaville, Virginia at Fishing Bay Yacht Club (FBYC). Twenty competitors from five districts from faraway Roswell, New Mexico to New Hampshire to St. Petersburg, Florida braved high winds and hot summer heat to race a three day, nine race series.

Located an hour east of Richmond, Virginia at the mouth of the Rappahannock River on the Chesapeake Bay resembles previous NA host Rock Hall, Maryland's quaint fishing and farming, rural surroundings. FBYC has a unique set-up on the peninsula where dinghies launch from the front of the club off the beach to the Bay, while the larger keel boats dock 50 yards on the opposite river …

2013 Screwpile Regatta - FBYC Podium Finishes

Two FBYC boats had podium finishes at the Screwpile Lighthouse Challenge.  Cheeky Monkey took 3rd in the 13-boat PHRF-C fleet and Afterthought took 3rd in the 12-boat PHRF-A1 fleet.  Congratulations!  Also sailing were: Goin', Shenanigan, Double Eagle, Mad Hatter & Schiehallion.

Congratulations to Rob Whittemore and John Wake for finishing 3rd in the Flying Scot NAC. The regatta was held at Lake Norman in very light and trying wind conditions. 

FBYC Juniors Rack Up the Medals Bay Regattas

Junior Activities

If you are having a junior regatta, look for the Fishing Bay Yacht Club Junior Sailing Race team to show up ready to race. There are over 30 juniors racing with FBYC this summer.  The largest team of juniors EVER!!!!  This is a dedicated group of young athletes with some outstanding coaches this summer.

Junior Program Race Team

25 members of the FBYC Race team, four coaches and many parents hit the road in late June.  They participated in five regattas in Maryland.  Members of the Laser Race Team, Opti Race Team, as well as some from the Opti Development Team, raced against other junior sailors from all over the east coast.

ROCKET J,  J70-68,  CREAMPUFF,  AFTERTHOUGHT,  MAD HATTER, AND CHEEKY MONKEY  WIN ONE-DESIGN & PHRF FLEETS AT LEUKEMIA CUP.  After four races over two days, 34 boats settled the 2013 Southern Chesapeake Leukemia Cup competition in the racing fleets.  An additional 22 boats sailed in three Leukemia Cruising fleets, led in the final standings by JOIE DE VIE, OSPREY, and SHERPA.  This was the 15th Annual Southern Chesapeake Leukemia Cup Regatta  and people turned out for a number of event fundraising activities for this worthy cause.   RESULTS:  J24 Class (5 boats): 1.Neil Ford and Lis Biondi, Rocket J; 2.Scott Collins, Kobayashi Maru; 3.Alan Bomar, roundabout.  J70 …

Leukemia Cup Scratch Sheet Updated!!

The Leukemia Cup preliminary scratch sheet has been posted. Look for updates during the week as more boats enter and we refine OD classes and sub classes. There will once again be two courses. Keep your eyes on these southern Bay youngsters, who distinguished themselves by finishing in their fleet top 10 at the recent Junior Olympics in Baltimore. In the 51 boat Optimist Fleet, Brenton Amthor took 1st  overall and won the Chesapeake Bay Optimist Open Championship Trophy; Garett Levy finished 4th and Trent Levy 7th.  Among the 45 Laser Radials, Alexander Hanna finished 2nd, Hannah Steadman was 6th (and top girl) and Gray Kiger was 7th.  Among the 21 C420s, Jacob Marquardt and Anna Patterson were 7th and Victor Lane and Nicholas Baker were 9th.
