Offshore Racing
Offshore Fleet:

This coming Saturday is our annual Moonlight Regatta. And yes just like last year we have a waxing gibbous to guide us through the night. Moonrise is at 7:49 PM and it sets at 4:57 AM - so plenty of moonshine and not the liquid kind. Unlike last year, let's plan on clear skies and no thunderstorms.

There is one important announcement: There will be NO dinner preceding the race this year due to Junior Week events. However, there WILL BE ice cream and Goslings post race. So please plan your own dinner accordingly.

The first warning is at 1930 hours or 7:30 PM. Hope to see everyone there. If you have any …

We welcome anyone interested in sailing a laser or 420  to come out and join us.  For anyone who does not have a boat, we will do our best to find one for the evening.  Jon will help find boats, so send an email to jon@jdeutsch.com if you are in need of a boat for the evening.

In order to get as many people on the water as …

Interested in Learning How to Score a Regatta?

Paul Wash on

This is a different role than the recorders who capture the live finishes, although some people do both. Learning how to score gives you an appreciation for how our sport works and is a very active part of the race committee.

The first step is to get a list of people interested in learning this skill. The second step is to hold training sessions to teach people …

#643 SOUTHERN BAY RACING NEWS YOU CAN USE

SBR News You Can Use

SBRW in a nutshell – 89 big boat skippers and crew sailed their brains out for three days in beautiful weather, partied their brains out with rockin’ bands and Gosling’s rum, partook of the downtown pirate festival street skirmishes and swashbucklin’ fun, tried out vendor standup paddle boards, laughed, sang and danced with one another, watched fireworks from the host yacht club lawn and raced, and raced, and raced.  The courses were different each day and to take home an award was no easy task.  The challenges were in the harbor (triangles – multiple races), off Buckroe in the Bay (a distance race) and off Ocean View in the Bay (windward-leewards – multiple races).  The winds were …
