When the Typhoon Nationals come to Rappahannock River Yacht Club (June 10-12), in addition to the championship fleet,  there will be a Corinthian class for skippers new to the class and/or racing.  Steve and Ann Harris have just taken delivery on their Typhoon, so  the "kinder-gentler" class may suit them just fine.

In the spring, traditionally, racers plan and tie knots. . . engagement knots!    Brendan Drinkwater and Erin Simmons have made official their plans to marry.  Brendan and Erin made their engagement official on St. Patrick's Day.  Brendan sails his own Sonar and has crewed for years on Meridian (Sledd Shelhorse) and other friends' boats from time to time.    Word from Cyrano crewmates is that  Dave Powell and  Alexandra (Alex) Mankowski plan to tie the knot, too.  They made their intentions official on Presidents' Day.  Dave is the new crew chief (taking up those duties from Carla Winters) and long time crew on Cyrano (Bob Mosby).   CONGRATULATIONS to all!

Rappahannock River Yacht Club played host to a  full house for MURPHY RULES Saturday.   One of Southern Bay racers'  favorite rules seminars went on the road to Irvington, Virginia, and 50+ Northern Neck and beyond racers of all stripes crammed the Rappahannock  River Yacht Club to heard John McCarthy's "Racing Rules Made Easy" presentation.

Collegiate Racing:  Hampton University hosted their annual MAISA / SAISA inter-regional regatta on Saturday.  The threat of snow and/or sleet cut Sunday racing from the schedule.  The final standings for the 12 college teams was: 1.George Washington; 2.University of Virginia; 3.Hampton University; 4.College of William & Mary (Team 1); 5.Fordham University (Team 1); 6.Monmouth University; 7.Eckerd University; 8.Christopher Newport University (Team 1); 9.Christopher Newport University (Team 2); 10.Fordham University (Team 2); 11.College of William and Mary (Team 2); Villanova University.
