Fall Opti Race Team Members Logan Hayes, Jayden Jones, Gannon Troutman and Alex Resio, at the 2014 Halloween Howl, Annapolis Yacht Club
FBYC’s junior fall sailing season has kicked off, and we are offering opportunities in Optis, Lasers and 420s!
Fall Opti Race Team. The Fall Opti Race Team is racing next weekend at the USODA Southeastern Championship at Camp Sea Gull, near Oriental, North Carolina. Next up will be the USODA Spring Team Qualifiers at Sail Newport, in Newport, Rhode Island on October 9th-11th; and finally, the USODA Atlantic Coast Championship at Annapolis Yacht Club on October 24th-25th. We are extremely fortunate to have Bobby Lippincott coaching the team this fall. Bobby is a vastly experienced coach and successful racer in everything from Optis to Stars! You can see his bio on our webpage at https://www.fbyc.net/Juniors/Coaches. The team will also practice at the club on select weekends.
Lasers & 420s. We are offering practice sessions at the club during the fall for both Lasers and 420s. In addition, juniors are encouraged to race Full or Radial Rigs with the adults at the club’s Laser regattas on September 27th and November 8th. Bo and Camille Bragg are the Coordinators for both the Fall Opti Race Team and the Lasers and 420s.

Sail with St. Christopher’s & St. Catherine’s High School Sailing Team! This fall we have an arrangement with Richmond’s St. Christopher’s & St. Catherine’s for FBYC juniors who are not students at the school to sail with their coed team! The team is organized and coached by former FBYC Commodore Mike Karn. In years past many of our sailors attended the schools and sailed on the school teams, but this fall we have made arrangements for FBYC juniors who are NOT students to sail! The team will practice either at the club or in Richmond, and attend regattas in the Bay area. This program is available to any of our sailors who are in the 8th through 12th grades. This is a wonderful opportunity, and we hope our kids can take advantage of it!
