Who brought more Glassware home from Hampton over the past weekend, The five FBYC off-shore racers sailing in the Black Seal Cup, or the five FBYC Opti racers sailing in the Hampton Junior Regatta?

For the answer....The FBYC juniors represented this past Sunday at the HYC junior regatta with William Wirt taking second overall and second in the blue fleet, and Austin Powers winning third overall and first in the white fleet. Ben Buhl took third in the white fleet and Natalie Wirt was fourth. Newcomer Nick Howe was fith in the white fleet.

After the regatta the juniors took turns in the dunk tank with the Hampton sailors and ate much post-race pizza. The parents were seen under the Black Seal Rum tent hounding the bartender for drinks and eating free hot dogs.

On Saturday, the juniors attended the Blackbeard Pirate Festival in downtown Hampton and witnessed an "authentic" sea battle between Blackbeard and the Royal Navy which ended with the removal of Blackbeard's head. Afterwards, the juniors fell in with a group of young pirates which included Kramer and Taylor Kodel and enjoyed an afternoon of sword play and general swashbuckling. That evening the juniors retired to the Wirt household in Portsmouth where Mrs. Wirt was able to keep them at bay with plates of hotdogs, hamburgers and cake. The ruffians eventually settled in for a long night of video gameing but were able to roust themselves the morning to make it to the regatta.

The next trip to Hampton will be July 2nd and 3rd for the Virginia State Opti Championships (the regatta includes 420's & lasers). Anyone interested should contact Steve Wirt, good times will be had by all who attend.
