This notice is primarily addressed to crew candidates and outlines our training program. We presently have over 40 candidates who have expressed an interest in crewing on off-shore boats during the 2006 season.

A meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday March 28 at 7pm at Retreat Hospital to meet and greet candidates. Members will be available to answer questions and to describe what you can expect both when you arrive at the club for the training sessions and on a race day.

On-the-water crew training for off-shore candidates is scheduled for April 8, 9 and 15. A meeting for candidates and skippers is scheduled for 7 pm on Tuesday March 28 in the Boardroom at Retreat Hospital. The entrance to …

Yesterdays Scuttlebutt reported on two events in Melbourne, one a Fun day for kids of all ages sponsored by Disney who are funding Paul Cayards Pirates of the Caribbean in the Volvo Ocean race around the world. And this coming weekend, a rematch between Dennis Connor and John Bertrand who skippered the US and Australian boats in the 1983 Americas Cup race. Remember it's summer down under so it will be great weather for the spectators.

After the FBYC Flea Market and dinner on March 18 at the club (around 7:00 pm), we will have a presentation from Captain Bob Glover, Executive Director of Schooner Virginia. Bob will provide an update on Schooner Virginia, its schedule/itenerary for 2006 and learning and participation opportunities. It should be a great finale to a very interesting day at FBYC.

Help find AMBERJACK - Amberjack, Star #307, was built in 1925 by Davis & Sons of Solomons Island.  The first owners were listed as Trippe and Young (don't have first names).  Ownership transferred in the 1930s to Richard Martin and then to A.R. Leighton in the early 1950s.  AMBERJACK kept her name and stayed in the Chesapeake Bay fleet until she was last logged by the Star historian around 1983.  Now, a search is on for her.  If you have any information, Fitzhugh Turner asks that you contact him at  fitzturner@verizon.net

Spring Boat Outfitting Seminar by RRYC Highlights Engine, Electrical Systems

"Preparation for spring boat outfitting of engine and electrical systems" will highlight a seminar scheduled for Saturday, March 4, 9:00 am to 3:00 at the Rappahannock River Yacht Club sponsor of the event at their Irvington clubhouse.

The seminar is open to the public and free of charge. Participants may attend either the morning session, or the afternoon session, or both. Lunch is available for $5.00 with advance notice, or participants are welcome to bring a brown bag lunch.
