Registration Opens on February 1st

 

The Development Team and All Season Sailing Pass give sailors access to coaching with an optimist focused team called the Opti Development Team (ODT) or a multiple-boat access option for older kids (12-18 years old).  ODT will enjoy learning how to sail independently in an opti over the six weeks while the multiple boat team will sail in c420s, Flying Scots, Lasers, and Melges 15s.  They will learn about weather and navigation in addition to exploring our area from a sail boat. This program has capacity for 20 sailors, ages 7 to 17.

The team will meet on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, for practice at the club and there will be the option to attend area regattas. 

Attendence at practices is not mandatory. While the Development program is a great stepping stone for sailors to transition to our competitive race team, it is our goal that the sailors have a fun, safe, friendly, and age-appropriate environment to develop a life-long love of sailing. 

All registrants must have prior approval of the Junior Division Commander (juniors@fbyc.net).

Prerequisite: participants are required to have completed Beginner and at least one Intermediate Opti Class during Junior Week, or the equivalent sailing experience. Racing experience is not required.
