We're inviting area yacht clubs to make the trip to Urbanna June 1st for a weekend in this lovely place to take advantage of spring weather, fine arts and crafts, entertainment and historic exhibits including craftsmen from the Mariner's Museum of Newport News as well as from the Reedville Fisherman's Museum. Featured artists include your own Kathleen Noffsinger as well as John MacLeod, Bob Holland and William Redd Taylor to name a few. Schooner Virginia Project coming to Rosegill

schoonerva The Hampton Roads Maritime Heritage Foundation plans to build a schooner on the Norfolk waterfront which will similar to Maryland's Pride of Baltimore II . I have invited Mort Clark, ex-navigator on Frank Batten's Shadow, and Rick Boesch, Executive Director of the Schooner Virginia Project to set up a booth and a display the model of the vessel from 4PM to 8PM at Rosegill this Saturday. They are trying to raise money for the project and I invite you to pay a call on their booth.
The Schooner VIRGINIA Project is a 501 (C) (3) nonprofit organization with the mission to build a preplica of the historic 118-foot Pilot Schooner VIRGINIA.

If you can't participate in FBYC's final offshore spring series and and one-design races on May 19-20, you may be interested in two events in the Annapolis Area. THE SPINSHEET MAGAZINE RITES OF SPRING for Lasers and Bytes will be held May 19. Parker Garrett and Blake Kimbrough are former winners. The 2001 FrontRunner midwinters were held March 16th through the 18th at Tampa's Davis Island Yacht Club. Six FrontRunners representing FBYC made the trek to DIYC and were greeted with warm conditions. Throughout the morning, the breeze built as the fleet prepared for the afternoon's opening races. The scheduled starting time came and went as crews waited on shore for a break in the gusty 20 to 25 knot winds. Severe thunderstorms were also predicted, but never fully materialized, however the steep chop and strong winds were enough to postpone the regatta's start until Saturday morning.The much anticipated 1st race on Hillsborough Bay began in a 5 knot breeze that faded away to a dead calm …
