My name is Clara Skeppstrom, and I am the communications intern for FBYC this summer. I want to introduce myself to those of you I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting. I am a rising fourth-year at UVA from Richmond. While I am not the most well-seasoned sailor, what I lack in experience, I make up for in enthusiasm and love for the Chesapeake Bay and Fishing Bay especially. The main reason I’m working here this summer is to help all of you members who have events or sailing news for the Club, whether that be with posting on social media or the news page, or anything else you think I might be able to help with …

Arts on Fishing Bay

Longer tenured FBYC members will recall the wonderful spectacles of spinnaker filled horizons, the festival of land based events, and multiple nights of dining and charity auctions that comprised the Leukemia Cup Regatta. Alas, the Southern Bay LCR met its demise more than half a decade ago, but lingering memories of the excitement and sense of community that it fostered still abide. One of the more unique of the LCR events was Arts on Fishing Bay, a Friday evening marine art exhibit and sale held at our main clubhouse and featuring a variety of local artists and artisans.

To recapture the spirit of that event we are initiating a new art exhibit on the second floor of the main clubhouse …

The long range forecast looks great. Warm temperatures with southeast winds. Come out for 2 days of big boat racing. If you can't make both days, come out for one( we'll cut your entry fee in half). The Start of the One Design Spring Series

Rick Peterson on

The Start of the One Design Spring Series.

Saturday the 30th of April was almost a picture-perfect day for the start of the One Design Spring Series. Goldilocks temperatures, forecasted for 7-10 kts of breeze, partly cloudy, in short, a beautiful day on the water.

We managed to get in three races, in increasingly shift wind conditions. Trying to fetch the windward mark was mystery game of guessing which way the shift would go. Keeping …
