Jon Deutsch on Thursday October 14, 2010 11:11AM

For everyone who will be joining us for the Chesapeake Bay Laser Master's Championship this weekend I would like to welcome you to Fishing Bay Yacht Club. We have a great regatta planned and a great group of competitors coming so it should be a lot of fun.

In an almost repeat of last year, except a day early, it appears that this northeasterly will by by us on Friday leaving us with clear skies and 15-20 out of the North West on Saturday.

A few notes for those who are new to FBYC or reminders for those who have been here before.DOCUMENTS
Here is the NOR And the SI's have now been posted to the club website

ENTRY LIST
Here are the pre-registered competitors on the entry list.

We are expecting about 35-40 boats.

DIRECTIONS
Directions to FBYC can be found at: http://www.fbyc.net/Club/Directions

PARKING AND LAUNCHING
Anyone arriving on Friday is more than welcome to go for a sail. Please park boats either in the 'Laser Coral' directly in front of the main club-house, or in the field directly adjacent to the pool. Please park cars around the outside of the Laser Coral or along the fence on the west side of the club property.

There are two launching ramps. The first is the concrete ramp between the club and the pool. The other is the grass ramp on the east side of the property. At the bottom of both is a beach for leaving dollies, etc while we are sailing. Hoses for wash down are located near the junior shed at the top of the grass ramp, and between the isles of Flying Scots and Mobjacks.

REGISTRATION & CHECK IN
Registration and check in will be open from 8am to 10am Saturday morning. If you have pre-registered, please come by to check in and pick up your dinner ticket. Those who registered on or before Monday also get a t-shirt. Anyone not registered, can do so at this time.

BREAKFAST
We will have breakfast available both Saturday and Sunday morning at the club starting around 8am. It will consist of muffins, bagels, coffee and juice.

DINNER
Dinner will be served at approximately 6pm Saturday evening. The exact time, not sooner than 6, will be determined once everyone is off the water and we can be sure everyone has had adequate time to de-rig and clean up. Alain is unable to sail with us due to a work commitment, but he will be here Saturday night with another great dinner. Wine, Beer and soft drinks will be available and are included in the dinner.

Note there is an offshore event on Saturday. Those sailors will mostly utilize the Jackson Creek facilities and will have their social in the Jackson Creek club house.

LUNCHES AND SNACKS
We will have water, Gatorade, power bars, min-sandwich wraps, and fruit available on the water on Saturday and as supplies allow on Sunday. They will be available from the Becca Boat. This is the boat without the roof that will be stationed near the start-finish line between races.

SAILING AREA
Take a look at the SI's to see the sailing area. If the wind is out of the East or South, we prefer to sail in area B or C which is more in the mouth of the Piankatank River in the Chesapeake Bay. It is a 30-45 minute sail depending on wind conditions. If the wind is out of the North or West, we will sail in area A or B in the middle of the river between or in Fishing Bay and Godfrey bay. Sail time is 20-30 minutes depending on wind conditions.

WEATHER
Saturday the temperature should be in the 60's mid-day with wind 15-20 out of the NW. Sunday is lighter winds and similar temperatures. Clear skies both days.
