DISTANCE SERIES

June 12, 26, August 21, and September 11, 2010

DESCRIPTION This series will consist of the following races for PHRF SPINNAKER A, B and C, PHRF NON-SPIN sailboats holding valid PHRF of the Chesapeake Category 4P certificates, and CRUISING sailboats having handicap ratings issued by FBYC:

Cut Channel Race: June 12, 2010,

Moonlight Race: June 26, 2010,

Smith Point Race: August 21, 2010,

Wolf Trap Race: September 11, 2010.

PHRF NON-SPIN will be sailed allowing only one (1) headsail downwind.

The format for all classes is in the NOR for each race.

PROGRAM See NOR for each race. Individual race awards will be presented following each race. Overall awards for the series will be presented after the Offshore Closing Day Regatta.
Warning Signal See the NOR for each race.
STARTING AREA See the NOR for each race.
COURSES See the NOR for each race.
TIME LIMITS See the NOR for each race.
SCORING The race winner in each class or subclass (PHRF SPINNAKER A, B, C, PHRF NON-SPIN, CRUISING) will be the boat having the lowest total point score for the series. A boat may qualify for winning regardless of the number of races she has started.
CBYRA SANCTION All races in this series are sanctioned for CBYRA High Point awards.

CUT CHANNEL RACE (DISTANCE SERIES #1)

June 12, 2010

DESCRIPTION This event will consist of one race for PHRF SPINNAKER A, B & C, and PHRF NON-SPIN sailboats holding valid PHRF of the Chesapeake Category 4P certificates, and FBYC CRUISING sailboats having handicap ratings issued by FBYC.

PHRF NON-SPIN will be sailed allowing only one (1) headsail downwind.

This race is the first race of the Distance Series.

PROGRAM Awards for this race will be presented following the race.
Warning Signal The warning signal for the start will be at 1100 hours.
STARTING AREA In the vicinity of FBYC “C”.
COURSE The first mark of the course will be either (1) special buoy “Y”, or (2) a government mark listed in Appendix A. See GSI 6.4(d) for course display format. After rounding the first mark of the course, yachts shall sail the remaining marks of the course as set forth below.
COURSE A – Approx. 28.4 NM

Chesapeake Bay Mid Channel Lighted Whistle Buoy CB (FBYC “Q”) Port
Chesapeake Bay Lighted Buoy 47 (FBYC “R”) Port
Piankatank River Lighted Buoy 2 (FBYC “F”) Port
FINISH LINE Between Piankatank River Light 3 (FBYC “C”) and the orange or yellow flag on the Committee Boat stationed north of FBYC “C”. If the Committee Boat is not on station at the finish, leave FBYC “C” to port, and take your own time when you are within 25 yards of FBYC “C” and it bears 180º magnetic from the helmsman’s position. This information should be passed along to the Race Committee Chairman as soon as possible after returning to the dock.
TIME LIMITS If one boat in a class or subclass finishes within fourteen (14) hours of the actual start time of the race for that class or subclass, then the race will be valid for all boats in that class or subclass. The time limit for the remaining boats in a class or subclass shall be two (2) hours after the first boat in their class or subclass finishes a valid race.
PROTEST TIME Protests must be filed by 0900 June 13, 2010
SCORING The score for this race day will be combined as a part of the Long Distance Series
CBYRA SANCTION This race is CBYRA sanctioned.
