LONG DISTANCE SERIES

June 11, July 2, August 20, and September 10, 2011

DESCRIPTION

This series will consist of the following races for PHRF SPINNAKER A, B and C, PHRF NON-SPIN sailboats holding valid PHRF of the Chesapeake Category 4P certificates, and CRUISING sailboats having handicap ratings issued by FBYC:

Moonlight Race: June 11, 2011

Cut Channel Race: July 2, 2011,

Smith Point Race: August 20, 2011,

Wolf Trap Race: September 10, 2011.

PHRF NON-SPIN will be sailed allowing only one (1) headsail downwind.

The format for all classes is in the NOR for each race.

See NOR for each race. Individual race awards will be presented following each race. Overall awards for the series will be presented after the Offshore Closing Day Regatta.

SCORING

The race winner in each class or subclass (PHRF SPINNAKER A, B, C, PHRF NON-SPIN, CRUISING) will be the boat having the lowest total point score for the series. A boat may qualify for winning regardless of the number of races she has started.

CBYRA

All races in this series are sanctioned for CBYRA High Point awards.

MOONLIGHT RACE (LONG DISTANCE SERIES #1)

June 11, 2011

DESCRIPTION

This event will consist of one race for PHRF SPINNAKER A, B & C, and PHRF NON-SPIN sailboats holding valid PHRF of the Chesapeake Category 4P certificates, and FBYC CRUISING sailboats having handicap ratings issued by FBYC.

PHRF NON-SPIN will be sailed allowing only one (1) headsail downwind.

This race is the first race in the Long Distance Series.

Program

There will be a dinner at the clubhouse at 1700 hours before the race, and refreshments at the clubhouse following the race. Awards for this race will be given out at the clubhouse following the race.

Warning

The first warning signal for this race will be at 1930 hours.

STARTING AREA

The Committee Boat could be anywhere from Piankatank R. G “5” (FBYC “A”), to Piankatank R. QR 15’ 4M “6” (FBYC “B”) or beyond.

COURSE

The first mark of the course will be either (1) special buoy “Y”, or (2) a government mark listed in Appendix A. See GSI 6.4(d) for course display format. After rounding the first mark of the course, yachts shall sail the remaining marks of the appropriate course as set forth below.

FINISH LINE

Between Piankatank R. Lt. QR 15 4M “6” (FBYC “B”) and the orange or yellow flag on a Race Committee Boat stationed north of FBYC “B”. If a Race Committee Boat is not on station at the finish, finishing boats must leave FBYC “B” to port by no more than 25 yards, and record their own time when FBYC “B” bears 180˚ magnetic from the helmsman’s position, and, if possible, record the names, sail numbers and approximate finish times of the boats finishing immediately ahead and behind. This information should be passed along to the Race Committee Chairman as soon as possible after returning to the dock.

TIME LIMIT

If one boat in a class or subclass sailing Course A finishes within ten (10) hours of the actual start time of the race for that class or subclass, then the race will be valid for all boats in that class or subclass. If one boat in a class or subclass sailing Course B finishes within six (6) hours of the actual start time of the race for that class or subclass, then the race will be valid for all boats in that class or subclass. The time limit for the remaining boats in the class or subclass shall be two (2) hours after the first boat in the class or subclass finishes a valid race.

Protests must be filed by 0900 on June 12, 2011
