August 23-25: HISTORIC CAPE CHARLES AND KIPTOPEKE STATE       PARK CRUISE

Enjoy the charms of Cape Charles and nearby Kiptopeke State Park. This low-key cruise, which is intended to be family friendly, begins on Friday with a moderate length SE sail across the bay to Cape Charles (25NM), staying at new marina at Town Harbor for both nights. On Saturday, participants can sail south 5.5NM to anchor in the protection of the concrete WWII Liberty Ships and dinghy in to enjoy the swimming beach and hiking trails of Kiptopeke State Park, returning that afternoon to their slip at Town Harbor. Alternatively, they can explore Cape Charles, which has the largest concentration of Victorian buildings on the National Registry of Historic Places.  Cape Charles has a beachfront park and, within walking distance, the upscale Bay Creek Marina and Resort. Kayak and wave runner rentals, the Cape Charles Museum, and the Bay Creek Railway for lunch and dinner excursions, are also available. Saturday night concludes with a group dinner at either the new Shanty restaurant at the Town Harbor marina or Kelly's Gingernut Pub in town.  Register at www.fbyc.net or contact Mike Camp and Sydney Fleischer at normancamp@comcast.net or call (804) 288-8421.
