Long Distance Race and Cookout

Come join us for the Annual Long Distance Race and Fourth of July Cookout. This cookout is for everyone, not just racers! It is actually on the 2nd this year and a Sunday.  Bring your picnic blanket, lawn chair, and an umbrella for shade! There is an exciting Long Distance race followed by a cook out. We will have several tubs of water and refreshments, hamburgers, hot dogs, and bratwurst, along with some delicious sides and desserts. Meals will be available for purchase through Wednesday, June 28. The availability of meals after this date, including walk up or day of, may be very limited.

DESCRIPTION The Long Distance Race is a handicap race open to any One Design boat 24’ length and under at the waterline. The course will use government marks in the Piankatank River and Piankatank Channel. The Portsmouth Yardstick D-PN-2 Handicap System will be used to score finishes. NO OPTIS WILL RACE IN THE LONG DISTANCE RACE DUE TO LONG DISTANCE AND RISK OF OPPRESSIVE HEAT.

REGISTRATION  Advance registration is required on Regatta Network where the complete Notice of Race can also be found. Use Appendix E (bottom of page) for the number to enter in the Portsmouth rating field.  More our our switch to using DPN-2 in 2023.

LATE REGISTRATION & CHECK IN At 1030 on the downstairs porch of the main clubhouse.

SKIPPERS' MEETING at 1130 - Between the club and the Fishing Bay dock.

START at 1300 - There will be one start for all classes. The class flag will be the numeral pennant “9” and the course number will be posted on the signal boat.

1030: Late registration and check in
1130: Skippers meeting
1300: Start for all classes
1700: "Clubhouse Bar & Grill" Opens - Food will be served from 1730 - 1900

Join us for a relaxed family cookout with hamburgers, hot dogs, and veggie burgers, along with some delicious sides and desserts. On line registration and payment is mandatory so we are sure we plan for enough food for all.  Purchase Here.

1700-2000 Music and yard games

Dinner choices include: 
Hamburger, Hot dog, Veggie Burger

All meals include green salad, macaroni salad, baked beans, watermelon, and dessert.

$7 for adults and $5 for children (12 and under)  - orders placed by 6/28

$10 for adults and $8 for children - orders placed by 7/2

Will also include Adult Beverages, Soda, Tea, Lemonade.
