Adult Sailing Clinic with Sea Breeze Racing Option

 

 

Event Type:  This event is open to sailors of all experience levels. Participants will have access to customized in-boat instruction and the opportunity to practice small boat sailing or sailboat racing.

For those interested in competitive sailing, there is an option to have an on-board coach or join an experienced skipper and compete in the Sea Breeze Regatta. This provides hands-on experience in sailboat racing and an great path to competing in future regattas.

The event will be structured according to participant interest, offering a chance to develop sailing skills, gain racing experience, or simply spend time on the water in a low-pressure setting.

Who can participate: FBYC members and non-members.

What to Bring: Must wear properly fitting PFD & closed toe shoes, bring hat, sunglasses, water, sunscreen . Bring a handheld VHF radio if you have one. Bring your own sandwich/snack/water for lunch on the water.

Boats type: Flying Scots are available to subsribers through the Club boat program. Sail your own boat under 19 ft.  M15, Flying Scot, ILCA, Hobie or other small boat.

Training and Club Boat Options:  

  • In-Boat Instruction: Available in either your own boat or a club boat for basic sail training or introduction to racing. Limited to 8 students across 4 coached boats ($25 per student). To ensure quality instruction, each boat will have a maximum of 2–3 students plus a coach.
  • Introduction to Racing: Sailors can choose to receive in-boat instruction or crew with an experienced skipper in the Sea Breeze Regatta for hands-on racing experience.
  • Club boat subscribers can reserve a boat for the day sail or intro to racing
  • Skippers and crews sailing their own will not have an on-board coach.
  • Limited coaching may be available from Safety Boat Operators at no charge to those who bring their own boat.

Registration/Fees: All participants are asked to register on Regatta Network to assist with event planning.

  • Sail your own boat under 20 ft.  M15, Flying Scot, ILCA, Hobie or other small boat. – $0 Free.
  • Club Flying Scot – program subscribers only . must reserve boats through Adult Sail - $0 Free.
  • In boat Coaching - includes in boat Coach and Boat (members or non members) - $25

Social:  Relax after a day on the water to recount your adventures with fellow sailors. Food/beer/wine/water/soft drinks will be provided.

Program

  • 10:00 Clubhouse porch - Welcome, program for the day and boat assignments
  • 11:00 On water activities begin
  • Social kicks off – following racing  - around 16:00
