FBYC is hosting a free U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Vessel Safety Check event on May 9th for both the Cruising and Offshore Racing Fleets.

A Vessel Safety Check is a courteous, no-fee, no-ticket inspection by trained Coast Guard Auxiliary examiners. They review your boat’s required safety equipment and basic systems to ensure it meets federal (and applicable state) standards.

Benefits of getting checked:

  • Confirms your boat is properly equipped and safe for you, your family, and guests
  • Provides expert advice to correct any issues — with no penalties or citations
  • Earns you a Vessel Safety Check decal (a visible sign of preparedness and responsibility)
  • Often qualifies for insurance discounts (many companies offer them)
  • Gives you peace of mind knowing your vessel is ready for the season

It’s quick (usually 15–30 minutes), educational, and completely voluntary.

Inspections will start at 9 AM and run until approximately 1 PM.

As the event draws near, you will be contacted to determine a time range for your vessel's inspection.  We will do our best to accommodate your desired time, however be aware that some vessels may take more (or less) time to inspect and result in an unpredictable schedule.  Please be flexible.
