JULY 4th LONG DISTANCE RACE & COOKOUT

DESCRIPTION Come join us for the Annual Long Distance Race and Fourth of July Cookout. This cookout is for everyone, not just racers! Bring your picnic blanket and lawn chair! There is an exciting Long Distance race followed by a cook out with picnic-inspired dishes and a selection of dessert items. We will have several tubs of water and refreshments, hamburgers, hot dogs, and bratwurst, along with some delicious sides and desserts.

The course will use government marks in the Piankatank River and Piankatank Channel. The Portsmouth Yardstick D-PN-2 Handicap System will be used to score finishes. NO OPTIS WILL RACE IN THE LONG DISTANCE RACE DUE TO LONG DISTANCE AND RISK OF OPPRESSIVE HEAT.

CLASSES Any sailboat 24’ length and under at the waterline. The Portsmouth handicap system (DPN-2) will be used for scoring.

REGISTRATION All participants must register prior to the start of the first race.  Event registration, information and notices can be found at the event website on Regatta Network..

PROGRAM

• 0930 - Welcome and Late Registration (via Regatta Network only)
• 1030 - Skippers Meeting
• 1200 - warning signal for all classes
• 1700: "Clubhouse Bar & Grill" Opens - Food will be served from 1730 - 1900
• 1700 On-shore Happy Hour and gathering
• 1730-1900 Dinner served
• 1700-2000 Music and yard games

AWARDS The overall winner on corrected time by the boat 20' and under at the water line will receive the Hicks Trophy.

SOCIAL: Join us for a relaxed family cookout with picnic-inspired dishes, along with some delicious sides and desserts. On line registration and payment is mandatory so we are sure we plan for enough food for all.  Purchase Here.

Dinner choices include: 

Hamburger, Hot dog, Veggie Burger

All meals include green salad, macaroni salad, baked beans, watermelon, and dessert.

Early Bird Price: $7 for adults and $5 for children (12 and under)  - orders placed by 6/26.

Regular Price: $10 for adults and $8 for children - orders placed by 7/2.

Will also include Adult Beverages, Soda, Tea, Lemonade.

The availability of meals after 7/2, including walk up, may be very limited.
