FRONT RUNNER SPRING REGATTA - RESCHEDULED FOR 4/9/11
The fun starts Saturday, April 9, with a Front Runner only race date. Although the FBYC website and Sailing Events Book have conflicting information, the regatta will be held on April 9th. In addition to great buoy racing, there will be an après-race social.

First Warning Signal: 1200
Followed by subsequent races
Followed by social and daily awards

The annual Fireball & Friends Regatta was held at the Davis Island Yacht Club, Tampa, Fl March 12-14. Classes in attendance included Fireball, Interlake, Front Runner, Windmill, and A Cat classes. The Front Runner class fielded a fleet of 10 boats to make the 14th annual trek to DIYC one of largest fleets at this much long standing mid-winter regatta. Fueled by the thought of sunny Florida skies, warm weather and cold beer the participants made arrangements, fixed trailers and boats to make the journey. Watching the wavering forecast with eager enthusiasm and overcoming several flat tires on the 12 hour trip, the group was welcomed by torrential rain, tornado watches and sustained winds of 25 knots. March 11-15, Davis Island Yacht club hosted the 2009 Fireball and Friends as a Mid Winter ritual that FBYCs Front Runner Class has attended for 11 consecutive years. Again with much anticipation and rehabilitated trailers Front Runners from Solomon Island, Atlanta and Fishing Bay Yacht Club gathered at the end of the road on Davis Island, FL to get out of the stinking cold. The event was held against the skyline of Tampa in Hillsborough Bay with daytime highs in the upper 70s and wind conditions from 0-12 kts over 4 days.
