10th ANNUAL LEUKEMIA CUP REGATTA

SOUTHERN CHESAPEAKE SAILING SERIES

Presented by SunTrust and Riverside Health Systems

July 11-13, 2008

The 10th Annual Leukemia Cup Regatta (LCR), taking place July 11-13, 2008 at Fishing Bay Yacht Club. The LCR is a thrilling series of sailing events that combines the joy of boating with the important task of raising money to fight leukemia, lymphoma and other blood cancers. Since the inception of the Regatta series in 1993, more than $23 million has been raised to fight blood cancers.

The Leukemia Cup Regatta raises money to support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Seventy-five percent of the money raised goes towards research and patient services, which includes financial aid, support groups, and educational programs.

Skippers register their boats and recruit their friends and colleagues to help crew and to raise funds. Crew members seek donations from friends, family, co-workers and employers to sponsor their boat. LLS will set up an online fundraising page for sailors and their crew interested in this easy way to fundraise. Your supporters can visit your webpage and make a quick and secure online donation. Please contact Molly Tanner, Sr. Campaign Manager at LLS at molly.tanner@lls.org or 757-723-2676, ex 202.

Each individual who raises $8,500 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society can go to Fantasy Sail with Gary Jobson. Offshore Sailing School will host the Fantasy Sail Leukemia Cup Challenge on December 13, 2008 at Pink Shell Beach Resort and Spa in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida. The Fantasy Sail Weekend officially starts at 3:30 p.m. Friday, December 12, with fund-raising workshops and a welcome party. Saturday, December 13, racing will start at 9 a.m. with an awards party and dinner at 6:30 p.m. The Fantasy Sail Leukemia Cup Challenge is a series of races held on the Gulf of Mexico, visible from the beach and spacious lanais of the resort’s waterfront suites. During each race, Jobson sails on a different boat, sharing his expertise and fun-loving whit. With racing in two flights, members of the St. Charles Yacht Club in Ft. Myers have offered to provide VIP boats for those waiting for their turn to race, spectators and press.

The LLS wishes to thank members of the local community in advance for their patience and understanding in acquiescing in whatever disruption and inconvenience the Regatta may entail. The LLS will plan and work hard with FBYC to minimize these effects. No doubt, there will be a heightened volume of traffic in the area over Regatta weekend. LLS and FBYC will work closely with the Sheriff to obtain adequate police presence to assist volunteers with traffic and crowd control. While we welcome all participants in the Regatta, we do admonish them to maintain posted speeds and to respect the privacy of residents by parking only in designated areas and minimizing any blockage of Fishing Bay Road.

Registration is $100 per boat if received before June 30, 2008 or $125 if received after June 30, 2008. Website registration cut off is Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 6:00pm.
