Closing Day this Saturday!

Another racing season is coming to a close. So…what better way to adjust to the winter doldrums than to come out and join the fun this Saturday for the FBYC annual oyster shuck and roast? Sign up online and join the fleet for a pursuit race around government marks in the vicinity of the Piankatank River and Fishing Bay. The pursuit race is OPEN to ALL boats! This means even if you don’t race or don’t have a PHRF certificate, a rating will be assigned to you and you can come join in the fun. The only stipulation is that you must register online in order to participate. There is a Skippers’ Meeting at 0930 by the flagpole adjacent to the Jackson Creek parking lot where you will receive your starting time and course instructions.

But wait there’s more! After racing come join everyone in the main clubhouse for Fruits De Mer and a variety of other goodies. If you aren’t racing, no problem, come partake, imbibe, and share stories from the 2013 season. You don't have to be an offshore racer to join us. Please register online as a “simply” indicating the number of people attending. We will keep going until the food is gone.

Now, the oyster roast is supported by the club, but the various other foodstuffs are provided by you. That means pot luck! So if you are able to bring a dish or a drink to share, please email julieann.wash@webnext.net and she will coordinate the various dishes to ensure we have what we need.

Right now the core menu includes:

- “Chincoteague Olde Salts” for raw shucking
- York River oysters for roasting
- Hot dogs and buns (for the landlubber)
- Mignonette, cocktail, drawn butter, and world famous paprika butter
- Jackson Creek style Bloody Mary’s
- Beer, wine
- Water, soft drinks
