Arrrgh! A crew of eleven FBYC Junior sailors recovered Blackbeard's head after three long days of racing off the pirate infested waters off Hampton Yacht Club. In spite of missing everything from the waist down, Blackbeard managed a big smile from his engraved silver punch bowl presented to Madeliene Alderman for being the overall winner of Hampton YC's Annual One Design Regatta on July 2nd. This, just two days after she claimed overall honors for the Optimist class in Hampton YC's Friday Junior Regatta. Madeliene had lots of company to help her bring home the booty though. The FBYC Team came home with a chest of awards during the three days of racing. Her brother Graeme pillaged for first place in the white fleet. His mately Austin Powers claimed 2nd place overall and first in blue fleet for the Junior Regatta and second overall in the One Design Regatta just behind Madeliene. Also, Ben Buhl broadsided the fleet with a second place in the Optimist Blue Fleet and fourth overall. Pirates everywhere will be shivering in their seaboots knowing that Green Fleeters Eric and Conrad Roos will be drawing a bead on their rudders after they plundered for first and second in their Optimist class during the One Design Regatta. And Aiden Toms nabbed a spot on the podium for his racing in the Juniors White Fleet. Three of our Laser sailors stuffed their booty bags with lots of shiny loot including Quentin Jenkins who took the head off first place along with Annie Mckinnon who grappled second and took the Women's trophy. Daniel Bagbey came over the side with a third in the Laser class. By Sunday, the FBYC fleet was ready to show Hampton their rudders and chart a course for home (or to and undisclosed location) to bury their booty and to reload their cannons for another prize they hope to find in Annapolis at the Sandy McVickar Junior Regatta to be held at Severn Sailing Association on Friday.
