Hospice Turkey Shoot Regatta
The Hospice Turkey Shoot Regatta is now in its 18th year and will be hosted this year by the Rappahannock River Yacht Club in Irvington, assisted by the Yankee Point Racing and Cruising Club, on October 11-13. This regatta is a major fund raising event for local Hospice organizations, and by participating, it helps ensure that Hospice volunteers can continue to serve local communities.

The Tides Inn is sponsoring the Tides Inn Overall Winner Award for this year's Turkey Shoot race series winner. The overall winner will receive:
- A fully-paid entry to the 2014 Turkey Shoot
- A complimentary boat slip at the Tides (for next year's regatta)
- A complimentary room for two at the Tides during regatta weekend next year
- A beautiful wicker luncheon hamper for two each day, including food, wine and soft drinks during the 2014 Turkey Shoot
For captains who haven't yet registered, please note that September 15 is the deadline for having your boat's name included on the official Turkey Shoot t-shirt.
For captains who have registered already, you have a chance to win the "most beautiful" boat award by circling round the spectator boat Serenity and doing your best to stand out in some way. This year's MBB award is a beautiful oval tray from AGA Correa.
For those who just like to party and have a good time, you don't have to compete to enjoy the Turkey Shoot's Cocktail Party on Friday, October 11, from 5 to 7, at the regatta's event tent (Rappahannock Yachts). Tickets are $10 and include music, rockfish, other heavy hors d'oeuvres, and one drink. (Cash bar thereafter). Tickets are available at the Steamboat Era Museum (438-6888) in Irvington.
