What started as an informal invitation to Kathleen Noffsinger to show her work to the Wednesday night group at the Fishing Bay Yacht Club in Deltaville several years ago, has turned into a huge annual art show. It now features the best artists and craftsmen in the middle peninsula region and in conjunction with The Leukemia Cup Regatta is a benefit to raise money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

On Friday, June 8, 2007 from 5:30 – 9:00 PM at the Fishing Bay Yacht Club in Deltaville, Kathleen and 25 other artists and artisans will offer their creations to the public. More than just an art show, music and refreshments highlight this increasingly popular charitable and social event that has drawn rave reviews throughout the region.

“Every year I thank Bob and Arlene Kates for inviting me to showcase my work in that first setting in the old clubhouse and to work so tirelessly to build this show artist by artist into such an exciting venue and fundraiser,” says Noffsinger. “Now there are over 25 artists showing each year. Patrons not only buy paintings for their homes and businesses, but often purchase art to donate to the auction held later in the month to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. It’s a “win/win situation” for everyone. Each artist also donates a piece of art to the auction in lieu of paying a booth fee. The evening is filled with fun, delicious food (cost of admission is a hors d’oeuvre to share and a donation to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society), music and a great chance to see friends and make new ones.”

Kathleen Noffsinger is an award-winning watercolor artist from Deltaville. Her colorful paintings include scenes from the Chesapeake Bay, the Florida Keys and Bermuda where she expresses her talent in lively renderings of wildlife and nature.

She begins her paintings with a compositional plan of lights and darks in a 2” x 3” sketch and proceeds to a full-size drawing on her watercolor paper. Using both large and small brushes as well as a “pouring” technique, Noffsinger paints in her studio as well as on location “en plein air”. Vibrant colors are added in layers of transparent glazes in a style she calls “realistic impressionism”. Working with “purist” watercolor techniques as well as combining pen and ink and mixed-media collage with watercolor, her goal is to capture on paper a memorable and creative visual impression for the viewer.

Noffsinger is a member of the National Watercolor Society, the Virginia Watercolor Society (Signature Artist Member), the Mathews Art Group, the Rappahannock Art League and the National League of American Pen Women. Her limited edition prints and giclees are found in many fine art galleries on the East Coast and in Marco Island, Florida and the Florida Keys.

Her paintings have been purchased for both private and corporate collections throughout the world. For information about her limited edition prints, original paintings, classes or workshops she may be reached at her studio in Hartfield, Virginia .
