Laser SailorsRace & Skirmish During Blackbeard Festival

The Laser District 11 Championship Regatta will be held at Hampton Yacht Club , May 31 through June 1 this year.
The word on the street is to expect a minimum of 30 boats for this event, and it's being talked up with the local college sailors, as well. To add to the fun, the popular and colorful Blackbeard Festival is being held in Downtown Hampton that same weekend. http://www.downtownhampton.com/blackbeard/ 
This is a double-edged sword (ha ha). The festival is great and offers lots to do in the evenings after racing, including a Pirate's Ball on Friday and a special Block Party on Saturday night. Also, if you bring your families, there is guaranteed entertainment for the little ones. Lots of pirates roaming downtown and pirate skirmishes all over the place. However, it also means that accommodations will go quickly. If you plan to stay at the Radisson or the local B&Bs, call soon. Phone numbers are on the HYC web site (see link below).
The regatta entry fee is just $35, which includes a substantial discount on a fantastic lasagna dinner in the upstairs dining room at the club on Saturday night. There will be breakfast and bagged lunches available for purchase in the lounge each morning before racing, and cold beer each day after racing (for those over 21 of course!)
