The 17th Annual Southern Chesapeake Leukemia Cup Regatta held in Deltaville over the weekend of July 10-12 was another huge success with 61 registered yachts and enthusiastic crowds at the Auction and Gala held for the second consecutive year at the Deltaville Maritime Museum & Holly Point Nature Park.

Typically the Southern Chesapeake Leukemia Cup Regatta is one of the most successful Leukemia Cup Regattas in the country in spite of being one of the smallest of such national venues, and this year should prove to be no exception. Having four times been voted the Best Regatta on the Bay by the readers of Chesapeake Bay Magazine, the 2015 Regatta is expected to be a strong contender for this honor …

We are just days away from the 17th Annual Southern Chesapeake Leukemia Cup Regatta to be based again at the Deltaville Maritime Museum and Holly Point Nature Park over the weekend of July 10 -12. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is being flooded with registrations from racers around the Bay.

But it’s not too late to participate…registrations are being accepted through Thursday, July 9 at www.leukemiacup.org/va or register in person on Friday night before the event.  And those that choose not to be on the racecourse can register in advance for festivities on Friday and Saturday nights that will be fun for the entire ‘rivah’ family.

The 16th Annual Southern Chesapeake Leukemia Cup Regatta takes place over the weekend of July 11-13 in Deltaville. An exciting change this year is that all onshore activities will be hosted by the Deltaville Maritime Museum & Holly Point Nature Park on its spacious grounds.

Twice voted the Best Regatta on the Bay by the readers of Chesapeake Bay Magazine, Fishing Bay Yacht Club, Stingray Harbour Yacht Club, and Wilton Creek Cruising Club will continue to sponsor this popular regional sailing event.

IMG_2962“Mad Dogs and Englishmen [and sailboat racers] go out in the mid day sun”, or words to that effect, and seventy (70), some meeting overlapping criteria, went out on a sizzling race course off Stingray Point  both days this past weekend for a very good cause – the 14th Annual Southern Chesapeake Leukemia Cup Regatta.  The event was two days of racing and additional days of shore side happenings, including a Friday evening special “Meet and Mingle” with Gary Jobson, National Chair of The Leukemia Cup Regatta.  The record setting heat conditions required some chutzpah on the part of the racers and some creativity on the part of race officials.  Nevertheless, each of the fleets got in …

I am completely amazed how rich the "Corinthian spirit" has been at our club and how many members are volunteering for our upcoming two day regatta.  After a year of being bound by a computer our kids finally have the opportunity to be on the water again to represent our amazing sailing program and club.  We are hosting the Virginia State Championship which is also the season opener for CBYRA.  With registration open for about a month we have been successfully amassing an army of volunteers to serve over 100 sailors along with their family and friends.  As far as the eye can see will be an armada of kids geared and ready to give it their all June 26-27th …
