Bob Kates on

Club News
Plans are to gather at the club at 9:30 a.m. Bring your rakes, pitchforks, and cleaning supplies. We will rake and clean up the grounds and put everything away for the winter. David Hazlehurst will bring coffee, pastries and lunch. If we all pitch in this will give the club a great headstart for next spring. Looking forward to seeing everyone on December 1. Please at email me or call me at 804-776-6950 so we will know how much food to prepare. Bob Kates, Grounds Chrm.

New Building fully roofed and topped out!

New Building

After the Closing Day Regatta, which was canceled for lack of wind, we raised a U.S. Flag to celebrate the topping out of our new Building.

Shown above is an interior view of the new upstairs room. There will be a sitting area near the windows to the left, and the bar will be in the room to the right through the large doorway.

The building is as seen from the boat launching ramp, with a large screen porch downstairs. Upstairs there will be a screened in porch under the roof and outside porches on the two corners facing Fishing Bay. More photos of the construction progress are available.

Junior Activities
The Indian Summer Regatta was held this weekend. We had 10 Optis, 16 Lasers, and 4 Frontrunners. Early on Saturday a cold front with heavy air and rain squalls raised havoc with the race courses. All boats withdrew or were towed to the beach. After lunch, the Lasers and Optis returned to Fishing Bay and got in a number of races under cold windy and wet conditions.

Sunday was a beautiful sunny day with a strong northerly wind.

The results for Indian Summer are available on the Sailing Events page or by clicking here. Evan Aras won the Opti Class and Henry Amthon won the Laser Class.
