A special thanks to all members that have assisted and made recommendations regarding our powerboat fleet. Continuous improvements have been planned and hopefully will be completed. Again, thanks to all.

In accordance with the pricing policy, the Early Registration Pricing for the above three events has been removed. From now on, the pricing has increased $50 to $75 per event, and shown on the On-Line Entry Forms and on http://www.fbyc.net/Juniors/2008/RegistrationTable

From now on, registration is available on a space available basis, and finally, all registration will be closed on May 15.

Many thanks to those who have signed up by the deadline. It certainly eases the planning for these events. As on today, we have 100 children signed up for Junior Week - a record number for this early in the spring.

Kayak Tour 2.JPG The 10th season of Southern Chesapeake Leukemia Cup activities begins next month in Deltaville. The fun starts with the Kayak Tour to be held again this year at the Deltaville Maritime Museum and Holly Point Nature Park from 9AM to Noon on Saturday, May 10. The launch site at idyllic Holly Park provides the perfect protected venue on Jackson Creek for this event while allowing convenient access to the big waters of Chesapeake Bay if conditions allow. This tour has become increasingly popular over the past years, and co-sponsor, Bay Trails Outfitters, will provide kayaks for newcomers and those without kayaks if you register early. Otherwise, bring your own kayak and gear.

Waterfront Development at the Deltaville Maritime Museum

Chowning photo new dock project rendering by Judith Woodbury.JPG The Deltaville Maritime Museum at Holly Point Nature Park announces a major waterfront enhancement project. A substantial 240’ by 8’ pier encircling the shoreline restoration area implanted last year will be constructed through the generosity of seven local benefactors.

Museum officials believe that the new pier will greatly augment the recreational and education missions of the museum. Not only will the pier offer expanded access for watercraft visiting Holly Point facilities through an exponential increase in dockage space but also will allow groups of educators, students, patrons, and visitors to study the shoreline restoration area from a safe and spacious platform enveloping the site.

Meanwhile, up on the Rappahannock River, the FBYC SPRING SERIES got underway.  Twenty-six (26) boats started on Saturday with a weather related reduction of numbers returning on Sunday.  When all was said and done, for the weekend, the standings in the fleets were:  PHRF A:  1.Brad Davis, Blade Runner; 2.David Clark, Corryvreckan; 3.Sam Mitchener, Double Eagle.  PHRF BC: 1.Jerry Latell, Boomerang; 2.Drake Johnstone, Cat's Pajamas; 3.Allan Heyward, La Maga.  PHRF Non-Spin: 1.Dick Cole, Nutcracker; 2.Robert DeJong, Temptress.  PRO: Brooks Zerkel.

FBYC Store Opening for 2008 with New Tervis Tumblers

The FBYC Store will be open before and after the Blessing of the Fleet during the Opening Day festivities on Saturday and throughout that evening. The newest offering will be insulated drinking glasses custom made by Tervis Tumblers for FBYC and containing an embroidered insert of the FBYC burgee. These will be available in both short and tall glasses. Get yours while they last! The other offerings will include the usual polos, hats, sweatshirts, belts, ties, scarves, as seen at prior store sessions. The colors of some of these items will be new. All proceeds of sales by the FBYC Store are used to support club programs.

Twenty (20) Southern Bay Teams Get Calibrated in the CCV Tune-Up Races:  Yesterday was perfect for a day of Spring racing.  Nineteen spinnaker and 1 non-spinnaker (Fins Up, Tom Connors) finished two races in Hampton Roads Harbor.  Leading their fleets and looking to be in top form early were:  PHRF A - Sea Star, Dave Eberwine; PHRF B - Wham Bam, Dave Taylor; PHRF C - Incentive, Louie Lewis .  PRO - John McCarthy.
