AOD Call for Volunteers

John Kalinowski on

One Design Racing

In 3 weeks FBYC will be hosting it 82nd Annual One Design August 14th & 15th.

We are in need of some volunteers:

  • Ride on the mark boats to move marks about.
  • Scorers on write down finishing sail numbers.
  • Flagger to hoist race flags on poles.

Lunches are provided and we will train anyone who is new.

For racers, it is a great way to learn what is going behind the scenes besides hoisting flags.

If interested in helping, please contact John Kalinowski (603) 398-0278 or by clicking here.

The ILCA Summer Regatta I on Saturday saw beautiful weather – mostly sunny with winds starting around 12 and building to about 15-16 knots out of the south west. We had 14 boats with 9 ILCA 7 (Standard) and 4 ILCA 6 (Radial) all starting on the same line making things more fun with more boats to race with around the course. Some of the Radial sailors were really fast and were nearby and beating many of the standards around the course. It kept things interesting at mark roundings.

FBYC’s junior coach for the summer, Francisco Renna, put on a clinic in the ILCA 7 (standard) fleet. He was fast all the way around the course and nobody came close …

The July 4th FBYC sunflower raft up was a big hit with boats of all sizes participating and numerous visitors from shore.

Sunday the 4th of July was a beautiful day for a yacht race.  Ten boats, all less than 24 feet, competed under a Portsmouth Handicapped 6-mile distance race.  Top honors went to Mike Chesser in Scuba Kat followed by Lucky Dog with John Wake and 9Iron with Kevin Cross.  Full results a can be found on the events page. Race committee was the Catitude Crew and Friends.

As afternoon blended into evening, family and friends gathered at FBYC for the July 4th cook out.  The weather was perfect, the food was hot, the drinks were cold …

Social Events

Grill

We hope you and your family and friends will join us for a relaxed family friendly 4th of July party at FBYC.  Of course, we can't offer these fabulous events without a little help from our members - and we are still looking for some help to serve food, tend the grill, and everyone's favorite job - serve up the drinks.  Can you give us 30-60 minutes of your time on Sunday, July 4th to help make this another great FBYC social event?  Volunteering is a great way to meet other members of the club!
