There are currently 53 entries for this annual event with three points of origin.  The southern leg starts at the mouth of the Piankatank and concludes 46.2 miles later in St. Mary's river at St. Mary's college.  There are overnight facilities available at the college that can be explored here http://www.cvent.com/d/95qflr/4W and the social, party and catering is a first class affair.

Under the second full moon in July, Incorrigible took First in Class, and Second in Fleet for the inaugural Southern Leg of the 2015 St Mary’s College, Maryland Governors Cup Race! Hosted by FBYC, Incorrigible started the 61nm, overnight race at “1NP” off New Point Comfort at 1600 hrs of Friday and finished at 06:03:53 hrs on Saturday morning in St Mary’s City, MD.

The Governor's Cup - an offshore distance race to St. Mary's, MD has a new southern leg starting in Mobjack bay.  This is the innuagural running of the southern leg and any offshore boats interested in sailing it are invited to register by the end of the week.  The race will start on Friday, July 31.

FBYC Race Team member Alexander Hanna won the 2013 Governor’s Cup this past Sunday at Ware River Yacht Club.  Alexander was first in the Laser Radial Fleet, which was the largest fleet competing in this year’s regatta.  Under the Deed of Gift for the Governor’s Cup, the winner of the fleet with the most starts at the regatta wins the Governor’s Cup.  This is the first year in its 49 year history it has been awarded to a junior sailor.  Alexander has competed on the FBYC Race Teams for a number of years in both Optis and Lasers.  Completing the clean sweep in the Laser Radial Class, fellow FBYC Race Team members Eric Roos and …

Ware River Governor's Cup Hampton One Design WinnersALBACORES and BARNEY HARRIS win 47th VIRGINIA GOVERNOR'S CUP.  Sailing in extremely stiff wind (18 - 25 knots) and rough seas on Saturday, and in extremely hot temperatures Sunday, a tough group of 55 small boat sailors raced their brains out on the Ware River over the weekend.   At the end of it all, the Albacore Class got in the most individual starts (among class members) and, therefore, the winner of that class, Barney Harris and crew Leigh (1-2-1-1-1) carried home the  Gov Cup keeper.   This was the 47th time Ware River Yacht Club has run the Governor's Cup.  CLASS WINNERSAlbacore (12 boats): Barney Harris and Leigh;  Buccaneer (7 boats): Jeffrey Moore and Jolie Homsher;  …

I am completely amazed how rich the "Corinthian spirit" has been at our club and how many members are volunteering for our upcoming two day regatta.  After a year of being bound by a computer our kids finally have the opportunity to be on the water again to represent our amazing sailing program and club.  We are hosting the Virginia State Championship which is also the season opener for CBYRA.  With registration open for about a month we have been successfully amassing an army of volunteers to serve over 100 sailors along with their family and friends.  As far as the eye can see will be an armada of kids geared and ready to give it their all June 26-27th …
