On Fri, 7/4 please join us for the Annual Cookout to celebrate America’s birthday. We are stepping up our burger game this year with a special “burger bar” with upgraded toppings. MENU: burgers (& veggie burgers), hot dogs, baked beans, pasta salad, green salad, watermelon and brownies.

The racing will be a One Design “long distance” race. It’s a fun, casual race – any sailboat under 20’ long is welcome (no Optis though, due to the heat and distance). See here for more info and to sign up.

Kick off summer at FBYC with the 5th Annual Small Boat Festival—a full day of sailing, light racing, and all-around fun on the water! Whether you’re a seasoned skipper or brand new to sailing, this event is the perfect way to sharpen your skills, meet other sailors, and just enjoy being out on the water.
We’ll offer in-boat coaching throughout the day, a great opportunity for beginners or anyone looking to tune up their technique in a low-pressure setting
Bring your own boat (under 19 feet)—M15, Flying Scot, ILCA, Sunfish, Hobie, or any fun, traditional small boat—and join a relaxed and welcoming crowd. Boats are available to members through the Club Boat Program.
A time-honored FBYC tradition, the Blessing of the Fleet will be held at 5:30 pm. The bar opens at 5 pm, followed by a fresh surf and turf-style menu at 6 pm! A live band, Second Wind, will be providing entertainment.
Tickets should be purchased by Friday, April 18th. After this date, limited tickets may be available but are not guaranteed.

For the fourth consecutive year, Arts on Fishing Bay will offer a seasonal showing of nautically related art by members and their families. The scope, variety, and quality of our members’ artistic pursuits, always inspired by their love of the Chesapeake and the sport of sailing, is amazing, as evidenced by the variety of works and materials from our past contributors, Stella Jones, Lolly Heyward, Lew Thatcher, Carole Vaughn, Izumi Miller, and Lyons Burke. We have seen watercolor and oil paintings, collages, intricate pencil renditions, and picture quilts. On Saturday March 1 at Hampton Yacht Club we will host a workshop for all sailors, sailing organizing authorities (think clubs), and potential funders to collaborate on our efforts to work together to build sailing participation and success in the southern Chesapeake Bay. It will be led by Dawn Riley who was on the original all-women crew of Maiden that took second place in their fleet for the 1989 Whitbread Round the World Race, and now director of Oakcliff Sailing in New York that runs training at all levels to help US sailors achieve success.
