Sign up and attend the Inaugural Jere Dennison Legacy Regatta (previously called Legacy of Sail) on Saturday August 25, 2018.

We encourage all classes of boats to participate--we especially invite the Flying Scot, Typhoon fleet, Windmills, Mobjack, Lasers, San Juan 21--and any classic boat.  The older the better.  You sail it, we will score it.  Open to members and non members of FBYC.

This is a one design event, open to all boats 25 feet or less waterline, and targeting skippers 60 years plus .  Crew can be any age. Please review the Notice of Race on the FBYC website for details.

Any boat class with three or more participants will be scored as a Fleet.

Women's Sailing Clinic is this Saturday, August 4th. We only have a few spots left in the racing and beginning classes.

We are excited to have Arabella Denvir as the racing coach! She is the owner of Premier Sailing School in Deltaville and has extensive racing experience including collegiate sailing, placing top 10 in Rolex Women's Match Championships, and is a previous member of the women's match racing circuit. We are excited to have her coaching prowess for the day!

Caroline Garrett will be the coach for the Beginner class. Caroline is a long-time club member and loves to encourage women sailing at our club and beyond …

One-Design/ small boat racing this Saturday, starting at 1pm. Flying Scots and any other sailboat under 21ft is welcome! We are going Caribbean-themed, which means you should dress yourself and your boat appropriately! Thanks to the recent generosity of Buck Brewster and Marshall Orr, we have two additional Flying Scot Boats for the Club Boat program.  Yay!

And this Saturday at 10 am we will hold an orientation session on how to rig, sail and simply have fun on these boats.  Please remember:

• New members can use the boats for free for first year
• Existing members can "rent" boats for $100/year/Family
• Club staff will help launch and retrieve boats (don't need a tow vehicle)

Depending on turnout and the needs of attendees, we will provide:

• Information on reserving a boat
• Rigging and stowing tips 
• Leaving dock (varied wind conditions)
• Returning to dock (varied wind conditions)
• How to report boat problems

The Club will be disposing of the abandoned small racing dinghies currently in the "toaster" racks.  These racks are located in the Juniors' Yard along the fence.

YAM's first ever Movie Night drew a huge crowd with over 40 members!  "The Sandlot" cranked up at 8:45pm and we saw members of all ages joining in the fun...

Wet weather precluded us from being outside on the lawn, but thanks to our perfectly sized front porch we setup under cover and enjoyed zero mosquitos. Attendees brought their own snacks and drinks, and the YAMs surprised everyone with fresh popcorn and a ‘build your own’ candy bar, complemented by a few sodas and waters for all to share.  Big thanks to our YAM Committee helping organize and execute this fun new event; and thanks as always to club manager, Brian Ankrom, for helping organize and setup!
