Having Trouble Building a Winning Program? Here are Twenty One Team Building techniques we've observed.
1 - When it is time to put the jib up prior to the start on a blustery day, sail a close reach to maximize spray across the foredeck. By soaking the crew prior to the start they won't be so reluctant to get wet during the race. Do not reach off in an effort to keep the foredeck dry.

Scuttlebutt has some great photos of the recent Optimist Regatta held April 8-11, 2004 - at Lake Garda, Italy.
More than 3,000 people - competitors, parents, coaches, relatives - are in Riva del Garda for 22nd Annual International Optimist Class Meeting. Hosted by the Fraglia Vela Riva, this regatta has already been listed in past Guinness World Records. However, this year the event has reached a new record of entries: 784. Entries came from twenty-two countries, where the snow-capped mountains and the bright blue waters of Lake Garda provided the perfect backdrop for this festival of sailing.

The J/29s Class will visit Fishing Bay Yacht Club on April 16-18. This year will be the 6th annual J/29 regatta at FBYC. It is one of the favorite stops on the J/29 regatta circuit, as boats come north from winter sailing in Florida.
Boats are expected from Ontario Canada, New York, New Jersey, and North Carolina. The Virginia boats include Cheryl Lea from Hampton Y.C., Stephanie from Rappahannock River Y.C., as well as Night Music, Patriot and Titillation from FBYC.
Today's early morning mail includes an article from John Potter in Annapois that references Shelley's death by drowning 186 years ago. It could be titled caught in a storm with a badly designed boat. We can still get caught in a storm, even with all the navigation aids developed over the recent past but having a life vest on, or near at hand, is a prerequisite whenever you leave the dock. It is also is required by the Laser class amongst others.
Enjoy the article.

DELTAVILLE - "Richmond people" and other visitors be forewarned. Bring your provisions if you plan to spend the weekend in lower Middlesex County, because Deltaville's only grocery has been destroyed.
The Town & Country Market burned early Monday morning along with a neighboring pizza parlor and a vacant flower shop. The closest grocery stores are about 20 miles away in Saluda, Gloucester and across the Rappahannock River in Kilmarnock.
And the inconvenience won't stop with Deltaville's considerable …

opportunities, there will be a significant
change in the process for registration and the distribution of

understand the FBYC Junior Program. For additional details about the exciting
Junior events scheduled for 2004, see the March Log or go to the web site
