Dan Rugg, Sailing Master of the US Naval Academy, sends the following information about a US Sailing sanctioned upcoming event in Annapolis: "Our 30th Annual Safety at Sea seminar will occur over the w/e of 28 – 29 March here at the Naval Academy. As part of the program, we conduct live on-the-water MOB demonstrations utilizing the Navy 44s and Midshipmen. The first is an article called Classic, Fun and Thrifty in the January, 2009 issue of the Chesapeake Bay Magazine. It is a scan so is a large 7.5MB file.

The second is an article entitled The Flying Scot North American Championships published in the recent issue of The Virginia Sportsman, written by Lud Kimbrough about his experince at Toms River Yacht Club this past summer racing with his son Blake. The article has good event photos taken by David Neff.

REGION 4 - SOUTH DIVISION:   A - Up to 109;   B - 110 to 163;   C - 164 and Up;   Non-Spin - all

40D-3245a.jpg Last Saturday October 25, fourteen Offshore and Cruising boats had a wonderful pursuit race in 25-30 knot Southeast wind conditions. At the skipper’s meeting we decided it would be best to race inside Fishing Bay again, hoping to find some lee shores to protect the fleet. Because Mr. Roberts was already docked on the Fishing Bay side of FBYC, we decided to motor up the Piankitank River and set an orange mark in the middle of the Piankitank River just South of Bland Point. The skippers were told to expect a course with Mark Y – which would be the orange mark in the Piankitank River – and that they should go around Stove Point respecting all government marks both to …
